Willett can relax now. Absent a pitch-in by Spieth, game over.

"sad bogey at seventeen" and it's over. Danny Willett is the 2016 Masters champ.

Spieth made the turn at 7 under with a 5 shot lead. Wonder if he saw that and decided to play the back nine safe--he even had 2 strokes to work with, turns out--and that threw off his game.

Yep. He looked like he was ready to burst into tears walking up to 18.

Faldo made a good point how Spieth was missing his irons all day on the front 9; but the shots were still playable and often in "lucky" spots; where he could not only recover but also score off of mis-hits.

When the water hazards came into play on the back 9, Spieth's mis-hits weren't salvageable.

Spieth barked "no face shots, please" as he walked off of 18 to turn in his scorecard; and his caddy tried to Steve Williams the photogs a bit and protect his golfer.

He basically said just that in the post round interview.

I have to give those guys credit for keeping together as much as they do. After that happened at 12 i wouldn't have had any clubs left because i would've beaten everyone within sight with a different one. Then to still have to play six more holes and keep it together emotionally, well thats not exactly something id excel at for sure.

I was waiting for them to ask Speith to grab a few chairs on the way out of Butler Cabin. Maybe vacuum up after everyone was gone.

It was really a very interesting day of golf. I loved that they weren't able to shoot double digit under par scores. Augusta doesn't often show its teeth like that.

For those who care, here is a link to some of the pictures I took at Augusta when I was there for the Monday Practice round. It is an incredible place. You do not have to be on FB to access this link.

Very cool. Loved the Watson pic....that was one reason I was hoping I would have been chosen thru the ticket lottery this year. That's my guy. Big fan of those concession prices. How much did that black Masters hat set you back?

And I thought the pic of you dressed like Little Bo Peep was an odd addition.

I think the hat was $26. Most of the hats & visors were around that much. The shirts and longsleeves though we're crazy- $60, $80, and over $100. I got a ballmarks with a hat clip for $10, a masters flag for $22, and a nice green coffee mug for $12. So there was a lot of stuff there for a reasonable price, but you can drop $500+ in the merch tent so easily.

The nice thing about getting there early (it was still dark when we parked) is that you get the shopping out of the way, and then check the bags and pick them up as you leave.

And yeah the food prices are awesome. For breakfast my wife and I each got a coffee and I got sandwich...and I got change back from a $5 bill.
