Softest schedule in years.

10 - 6 or better.

4 night games in the first 8 games. 2 MNF at home, SNF and TNF on the road. For a non playoff team. Wow. But the Bears do numbers. Networks want them.

Is it? Or is it that the quality of NFL teams has gone down?

Yeah, ESPN Monday Night Football is a good place to put major markets that draw well without having to worry about how good the teams are. How many dogshit Redskins games have they parked in the ESPN slot?

Right. And ESPN gets more non playoff teams from the year before than the Sunday night games. Sunday Night is the jewel of prime time games. So ESPN was more than happy to take 2 Bears games.

Plus NBC can flex games after week 10 where ESPN is stuck with all of their games.

Also, week 2 and 3 are night games for the Bears. They won't be out of it. So it's not technically a dog game yet. That's why NBC wanted to grab them in week 3. And it's Bears vs. Cowboys. That will do huge numbers.

Raiders with TWO count 'em TWO games on NBC. I wouldn't be surprised if this was the first time the Raiders were on NBC since the days of the AFC package.

You're probably right. They weren't a playoff team either.

Yeah, but they're on the upswing, and the league is smart enough not to let that go to waste. Someone at CBS specifically said they need the Raiders as a national draw for the AFC rights again.

The Bears could make the playoffs this year with that schedule, and they'd better, or else they're looking at nine of the last ten seasons out of the playoffs, and then you have to start wondering when this fanbase is finally going to start eroding. What do you do when kids in middle school have almost no memory of Bears playoff games, just going 8-8?

Don't forget Harry Caray lookalike Charlie Jones!

Speaking of AFC teams that used to be on NBC all the time, when are the Dolphins ever gonna get good again?

I remember reading that the top 4 teams as far as TV ratings are the Cowboys, Bears, Steelers and Packers.

Wouldn't surprise me. Patriots would have to be #5, then. Broncos seem to have fans everywhere too. But it's time for the Bears to dwindle away into the irrelevance once enjoyed by teams like the Cardinals and Bengals. God knows they've done their part.

Nothing like Al Toon(ing) in for the 3 o'clock tilt between a Dan Marino and Ken O'Brien. I loved 1980's AFC Football.

They will be an improved team and with this schedule they can contend for the playoffs. I can see them going 10-6. Hopefully that's enough to get in.

5 out of their first 6 games are against non playoff teams. And the one that was a playoff team is Houston on opening day. And Houston isn't that good. Just played in a shitty division last year.

So I'd be pissed if they're not at least 4-2 to start. Half of the first 6 are at home.

two home monday night games? thank you - said no season ticket holders

i always prefer seeing the lions and vikings at home in late november or december and this year both of those dome teams (yes i still consider the vikings to be a dome team) get off easy this year.

Bears are the biggest NFL fan base. They get the largest Radio numbers and over the past 20 years have done the best TV numbers.

Remember, NY splits their market and then has Buffalo...

Its the NFL, you are going to get great numbers, but its pretty easy to see which teams do the best nationally when they are good...or at least dont totally Trestman like suck

The Cowboys are undoubtedly the most popular franchise in North American sports other than the Yankees.

And even worse is they are both in the front end of the season, when the weather is decent. Also no thanks to the Christmas Eve home game. Looks like I will be a seller of some games this year.

Always hated him for going after "Momma's Boy" for his forearm shiver to Louis Lipps

 @ this thread. Nobody remembers that Fox is a terrible game day coach, the defense still sucks, and the team has Cutler still? No chance this team sniffs 10 wins.

It's the NFL. There's always a chance for a mediocre team to top out at 10-6. The Bears can do it. They'd better.

what I find amazing after 10 years as a starter Cutler has only missed 15 games
