Pussification of America. We're now a bunch of babies whining about "microaggressions". Life is a never ending series of microaggressions. Deal with it.

no kidding

i always say good morning to the guys at work. its part of creating relationships that are productive

but we do have a couple of guys who never say anything. they just look at you at most or they just ignore you. but its ok because they are extremely good at their jobs, they always show up and when you ask them something to do with what needs to be done they give you a straight answer. one of the guys actually bitches constantly, but we just laugh and let him keep working because he gets shit done.

its just a job. thibs was really good at his. and everyone was saying he was going to lose the team because he was too rough on the players. well, the reason none of the players complained about him was because they knew he gave them the best chance to succeed. they knew he wouldnt allow loafers, and players want to be on a team where everyone tries. ITS THE GOD DAMN COACHES BIGGEST JOB- MOTIVATION- AND THIBS WAS GREAT AT IT.

Yes and no I think. I agree that probably the least talked about important attribute of a coach is the ability to get guys to believe in whatever the coach is preaching, and to more or less have the team happily carry out that vision when playing on the floor. Thibs did that for a while until he either pushed too hard, which is a mistake you can't make, or had the front office undermine him, or a combination thereof. He needs to find that balance between pushing and taking his foot off the pedal at his next gig.

We got a saying in the trades- Leave your feelings @ the gate.. I'm there to work. Hiring guys like Trestman or Lovie or Hoiberg never works out, give me me Bruce Aryians or Belichick.

Relative to most Bears coaches, Lovie worked out pretty damn well.

That same thinking has Cutler as great " relative to most Bears QB's" - you are either a winner or a loser, Cutler n Love are losers not winners.

Which should tell you had bad the shit was. Always said if you want a respectable team, Lovie is your guy. Great coach for that on every level. Want to win a trophy, no way.

I don't think he will be a good college coach. I think pro players need that father type figure more.

The Timberwolves are in a good place. I'm ready to switch allegiances.

Interesting... that is a lot of control. Thibbs will thrive in that atmosphere.

They still need work and Minnesota isn't a place free agents will be running to.

They already have the young talent. Personnel isn't a huge issue.

They need a little more seasoning. That's why I would give him a year before the playoffs is a must.

But it will happen.

i'm not necessarily saying they will be running to Minnesota, but i think the days of a player pretty much choosing between NY/Chi/Miami/LA are dwindling...i don't think players care as much anymore just bc Minnesota is cold. And if you're saying it's because they're been bad, it's clear they won't be and I think free agents would be excited to play with the talented young core they have

I think it's because there isn't anything to do in Minnesota. It's one of the reasons people avoid Cleveland. The marketing opportunities matter too.

Quote:
Tom Thibodeau once made a Little League team wait so he could practice a first pitch

Thibodeau went to the mound about 50 feet away with the bucket of baseballs and started throwing one after another until sweat was pouring off him on the hot, humid afternoon. For perhaps an hour, Thibs practiced his throw. Almost all of them were perfect as Thibs still is a pretty good athlete and despite a late night appetite still was in good shape before knee surgery to come. But another and another. Like his practices and walk throughs in his philosophy of life and basketball, it's in the preparation and the building of habits.

But there was more than just throwing the ball.

Thibs practiced walking the 50 or 60 feet back and forth; he practiced a wave, which he would do so casually and professionally that night. A little league team showed up after a while to practice on the field. Thibs persuaded them to give him a little more time and again he went through the routine as they watched.

How big of a bucket was it that it took him an hour or so to huck all of them?!?
