If he wants to work for the Buls sas a Scorekeeper full time thats fine. He want to go to NBA.com, fine go and do it, but to tell me after Skiles was fired that you thought something was up after hearing them argue in Skiles office, then how about a report on such an issue?

I don't expect everything to be reported but that was a huge signal as they always appeared to be on the same page.

Nice work Shuster, real "reporitng" there.

Sounds like everyone knew something was going to happen soon, that arguement might have been a clue to talk about.

Are you saying that he didn't report this until after the fact ? It seems that quite a few people (Terry Boers comes to mind) don't like to report anything until after it's public knowledge.

Shuster must have "peeps" too.

Everyone with peeps seem to have inside info that they never really talk about.

My peeps told me the Bulls would be this bad, but I just didn't feel like talking about it.

Every reporter now is coming up with the "I knew this would happen", 'The writing was on the wall"

But not ONE of them wrote or talked about it!

Yes, I have been calling for the firing of Skiles for 3 weeks now and for many of the same reasons the reporters are saying.

Yes, I have my peeps as well, but I don't get paid to report on what I know or has been hinted to me. Shuster and all he other Geniuses, Sam Smith, KC Sunshine and anyone else are.

And I don't want to hear this 'I am a reporter" not a columnist, as if they can't form an opinion.

This shit is like the Bears. Name one reporter that walked out of the Bears camp and didn't say "this team looks great". I question what the hell they have been looking at?

Great post, sums up my thoughts pretty well.

Why would they? They go to a single site, daily, that's catered. They interview people to receive cliche'd answers, they await press releases and statements to the media that they can transcribe.

If you covered, say, the real estate market in the Loop, and had the realtor agency be able the herd you around so easily, would you call yourself a reporter?

Not saying Shuster has no use; he'll give you updates from the Berto Center, and give you thoughts from the games. Same as your football/baseball bigfoots. But if you're looking for investigative reporting, I don't see it happening, and I especially don't see it happening from "beat" guys.

In listening to both stations upon hearing the breaking news, Laurence Holmes did his best to make us think the Score reporters were on it - but I think it was pretty clear it was merely a finger in the dyke.

ESPN had the name of who the interim coach would very soon after the news broke of Skiles firing - then again, they're the flagship - so they should I guess.

The reporters in this town are not experts. There are people who know as much, if not more, than these guys, and that's what they do for a living. I just get disgusted every time somthing breaks, and these guys act like they knew about it the entire time, but never said anything.

too funny. I just posted something about Shuster and how much he annoys me with his..."If you will" phrase that he uses over & over again. Now I see your post about him.

The other day, prior to Skiles being fired, I heard a conversation on the radio about how much the reporters all liked Skiles...and thus were maybe taking it easier on him because he was so well liked. Yeah...now everyone comes out of the woodwok to say "i kew this" or "I knew that"

That is rich. KC Sunshine. ROFTLMAO!!! Beat writers and reporters might as well be employees of the teams they report on as far as I'm concerned. You'd almost be better off rotating the writers so they can be critical of the team, and then four years later when they're back on the beat there will be enough turnover to where nobody on the team really cares.
