Minnesota vs Illinois is on Big Ten network at 8pm. They're playing a DH because of the expected bad weather tomorrow and airing game 2. It's really too bad because Cody Sedlock is throwing game 1. He's moving himself into the 1st round and probably had the best right handed breaking ball in the draft. When he's throwing that for strikes they don't have a chance.

The B1G just can't figure it out about baseball. You have a few programs trying to seriously commit to the game and establish a national standing, but then their network often carries just two baseball games a week. I can't envision that tv networks have to meet Title IX standards, but damn if women's lacrosse, softball or gymnastics aren't on more (in between reruns of months old shitty basketball games).

The SEC has at least 5-6 games/wk on their one channel & put at least 1-2/wk on ESPNU. ACC games and now increasingly west coast games are on ESPN more often than the locals who are more interested in bad broadcasts and crap like getting Rutgers in the league.

Well they're airing the Penn St vs Maryland barnburner today. Absolutely nothing to see in this game since Mike Shawaryn and his god awful arm action threw yesterday. I think the Big 10 network has been a little better but they still have a ways to go to properly showcase the sport. What they need to do is hire someone away from the SEC network but that would be way to smart a move for them.

The SEC network had a softball game on late afternoon. There were/are STILL three different SEC games on. Weather's a major factor, but damn if there aren't now eight(8) SEC teams in the top 25 now.

Dallas Baptist vs. Bradley was the evening game when the B1G baseball still doesn't matter in house.

On a different note, what do you think of my guy Ako now? :D

The DB/Bradley game was pretty good. That was a big win for the Braves. DB isn't used to playing in the cold and rain but there was no way they were going to move that game. It's not everyday a couple Valley teams get on National TV. Hell it was a lot better than the game I sat thru there a few weeks ago when it fuckin snowed. Snowed! Absolutely miserable.

Is Ako playing well? I'm not really following Michigan because it makes me think of what could have been with Charlie and that makes me really sad.

Ako is seemingly getting a couple of hits everyday. Playing like the kid I laughed at/with since he was 11. He'll have three more teammates from JRW next year. I absolutely cannot wait.

& yeah, the Charlie thing is still damned depressing.

Wow Florida goes 2 and out in the CWS. Bats went cold at the wrong time of the season.

I'd really love to see Coastal Carolina hang on. I love goofy kid baseball.

I'm about 15 minutes from their campus...I might head out to a local bar and watch it...

That sounds like a blast. I'd have to imagine it's as lively as Bloomington was when IU made it to Omaha a few years back. I was in a bar/restaurant Kirkwood recommended, lots of tvs, lots of people into the game. A really good time.

As an aside, Omaha/CWS was a great time. The only postseason events I found more fun are the Sugar Bowl & Bayou Classic, for obvious reasons.

One of the Dads from my son's team played for CC in the 90s. He dropped everything & drove out to Omaha for the whole week. In true douche fashion I looked him up to confirm his claims and they were true, which is very rare. The middle-aged world is full of Leery-pullers who characterize club, or worse, intramural sports as "played in college."

I did go...and just came back! I promised the kids I'd be up for sunrise tomorrow....bummer since the game will start soon.

Wow, the Chanticleers bring that shit home. Nice work. Of course it would have been nice to see the game but they played it during the day. Now that's a head-scratcher.

The best part of it all (for me) is that whenever the media mentions the Chanticleers down here, they play Alice in Chain's "The Rooster." Was at a minor league game last night and they did it there, too.
