I wasn't in town on Monday, but I'm still at 185, down from 193 at the start of the contest. Still -8. I started training for the St. Louis half marathon in April. Hopefully that will help keep me motivated.

Does it really take that long to train for 13 miles? It's a long distance, but you if you run regularly you could probably wake up one morning and run the 13 if you felt strong.

Well, yeah, I could probably run 13 miles today at a slow pace and be fine. I'm trying to run it at a 9 minute mile or better. I've never been much of a distance runner, so I will have to train. 4 months might be a little longer than necessary, but I don't think it will hurt.

Good luck Scott.
I'd love to run sub 10min miles for an extended distance.
Right now I'm dying after 1.5 miles @ 6mph. :(

I start with 5 minutes @ 5mph to warm up.
Then I do as long as I can at 6mph (which is about 15 minutes)
Then I alternate between 5 & 6 for about 20 minutes as I need a breather,
and finish wih a 4mph walk @ max incline for about 10 minutes for a cooldown.

I'm working an getting that 6mph distance up to 3 miles without the need to slow down, or the need to give up smoking  (even if it's only 3 smokes a day)
Getting old sucks.
