Dumb question: do horse races ever get rained out?

Second question: who should I bet today?

Yeah I'm gonna take some time off for a while after today. But I'm all on Nyquist.

The only time they might be rained out would be if the jocks refused to ride due to dangerous conditions.

they should let Lani get a furlong head start, so it doesn't bother the other racers.

Rough day. That Nyquist will cakewalk the Preakness. I'll take my revenge with Outwork in the Belmont.

It's worst than I first thought.

I had Moyhamen, SBN and Destin all in my trif-fecta boxes along with 13, 11 and they came in 4,5,6.

Now that's rough. :eye: :eye: :eye:

Really? Where was Outwork down the stretch yesterday? Looked like he got bumped around the far turn, and then he was finished.

Nyquist is a serious Triple-Crown contender. There wasn't a horse in the field yesterday that could have beaten him at 1 1/2 mi.

The Preakness will be his toughest test. Danzig Candy could take him or Outwork.

I was surprised at the lack of applause when Nyquist won, but holy shit the place i went to was a zoo. Called Crazypour in Villa Park. Cops everywhere inside and out. I was ghost like Swayze once the race finished.

It was cool to see the people dressed up though. Fun times.

Did our derby day on-line while sipping gin and tonics in rural wisconsin. Hit a few exactas including the derby. Indeed, a fun day.

There's no doubt about that. But I think a mile and a half is going to be too much for him. I can't see anyone beating him in two weeks in Baltimore. But Pletcher is going to skip the Preakness with his Derby horses the way he always does and point at least one of them to the Belmont. That's a luxury O'Neill doesn't have with Nyquist.

Outwork and Destin are who they thought they were  Of course Pletcher isn't going to run them in a shorter race and get embarrassed even more. If either run in the Belmont they might finish on Sunday  Exaggerator...Brody's Cause and Suddenbrekpngnews will be tough in the Belmont!

I think you're selling Outwork short, Walt. I'm not sure Exaggerator can beat Nyquist at any distance. I believe Brody's Cause might take him in the Belmont. Suddenbreakingnews is a horse that will always be a "wise guy horse". He finishes fast enough so people think, "well, next time...", but next time is just like last time. I'm sure he'll do great in the Oklahoma Derby though.

Exaggerator should win the Belmont.

I disagree on Suddenbreakingnews. Will definitely hit the board.

I cannot be confident at all in Outwork because of him not making any push down the stretch at all yesterday. Maybe he was kept to close on the pace?
