Hope he is doing ok!

Murph admitting "broken down " cubs fan, trying to get rejuvinated.

I get it. The Cubs put him so far under, he cant participate in the fun. They passed him up.

Turn in your card Murph, its over.

How could he not have enjoyed last season? Beating the Cardinals in the Division Series. Yes, the thumping by the Mets in the NLCS was not the way to go out.

His bit should be turned around by the Cubs being one of the better teams in baseball right now.

jp, blame yourself for listening to his show more than long enough to recognize Murph's voice and changing the station.

As of 5/21 he is still trying to repair his lost credibility by continuing to rail against "the plan" . He collects audio clips that even come within an inch of proving his argument. He worships at the altar of Jim Hendry and its unfortunate that he has chosen to stick to his delusional guns and forever be "out of step Charlie."

Agree that his voice sounds awful. But listening to him, for an old Score fan, is more pleasant than Boers/Bernsie.

A colonoscopy sans anesthesia would be more enjoyable than listening to Berns.

Listened again to Murph and Fred this AM. Murph's voice sounds worse than it did a month ago. His view on the Cubs is that he has seen everything with that club and is neither nervous nor surprised by their current slump.

On a sunny Saturday morning, a lot more pleasant than listening to someone continually bark that past years have nothing to do with this Cubs team.

I was listening as well. It was hard to recognize that it was Murph. He sounds like he is on his last leg.

Don't know if it's accurate or not but from wiki...

As of 2013, Mike Murphy has been on the air every Saturday from 9am-12pm for WMVP-AM Chicago. Recently, he has not been on the air due to a battle with throat cancer. Murph has returned to ESPN-1000, Chicago radio on 4-2-16 after a 6 month medical hiatus, again co-hosting on Saturday AM.

Man, that sucks. Certainly would explain why he sounds that way.

Good to see Murph taking credit for one of my bits on wiki.

My money is on one of these two.....

Murph's Turd: Murphy pretended to be a Latin King and talked with an inner city accent in defending the local sports teams.

Murph was also known for wearing black leather ass-less chaps around the station according to several other stories by staff.

When he came back he thanked his doctors on the air. He had some type of cancer. Didn't say what kind. Maybe throat cancer based on his voice.

That is quite possibly the best branded show bit in the history of the station. Congrats. Is it normal for a station to give the producer full credit on a bit he created for on air talent to present?

I feel bad for the guy. He was a tight ass and bitched at his production staff based on what I read on here but still he provided some great Cub talk on the SCORE when that station had mostly Sox guys on it.

I find it difficult to get an accurate read on Murph.

We hear these producers complain that he was difficult on them at work. On the other hand, it seems like it is impossible to motivate these guys to show the slightest bit of interest in their job.

I remember it more as being brought to you by "Berland's House of Tools". I also like that they would actually send the winner a hammer.

It certainly wasn't just producers. It seems pretty clear that he was a jerk to work for and (at times) with.
