Part of the first tier of college position players with Lewis and Senzel, Ray seems to be sliding a bit. He'd be a great fit for Chicago because he's from the city and participated in the club's Amateur City Elite program that promotes baseball in the inner city, not to mention a great value at No. 10. The White Sox have cooled on Miami catcher Zack Collins and could decide between Hudson and fast-rising Wisconsin shortstop Gavin Lux if Ray doesn't get here

Collins is a catcher now but is a bat-first prospect who'll move to first base or DH in pro ball, potentially going in the top dozen picks because of his offensive performance and potential to hit for power and get on base.

Summary :
Collins has the best approach in the country, regardless of position, and currently has twice as many walks as he does strikeouts. Collins also has average, all-fields raw power that plays up because of his ability to work counts into his favor and hop on pitches he knows he can drive.

There's some length to the swing, especially in the back, and there are some concerns about how much Collins will hit. He moves well enough to stay at catcher right now, showing solid mobility behind the plate. His receiving is fine and he has experience catching pro-quality stuff at Miami. The arm is fringe average and Collins' body is physically maxed out. There's a chance he gets too big and slow to continue catching and has to move to first base, which would put an awful lot of pressure on the bat.

The approach and power are constants worthy of consideration in the sandwich round at latest. If you believe he hits and stays behind the plate long term, then he's almost certainly a late first-rounder.

Collins has the most advanced approach in the draft, with what some scouts consider to be major league-ready strike zone awareness and pitch recognition already. He also has above-average raw power. However, some scouts are concerned he is going to strike out a lot, given the excessive movement in the way he loads his hands. It's also hard to find evaluators who think he remains at catcher; they think a move to first base is very likely.

While the White Sox might be looking at a 1B-only prospect with a grade-45 hit tool and grade-55 power tool, the approach is the trump card, and Collins is a high-probability big leaguer despite a lackluster on-paper profile. Collins was in to work out for Milwaukee, who picked at No. 5, and there has been buzz on him as a candidate for an underslot deal in the same way Kyle Schwarber was an underslot deal a few years ago, though pick 10 could be a little late for an underslot deal.

I gotta admit I love the way the Red Sox and Yankees draft. They don't get bogged down by any of the bullshit. They simply take the player with the highest ceiling on the board. It's a luxury few teams have.

It's funny watching the videos of Gav from the summer and fall because that's when he had a bad hitch in his swing. Kid worked his ass off during the winter and came out in the spring and ding dong the hitch was gone. That's when he started rocketing up draft boards. Great kid and tremendous makeup and work ethic. He's gonna be a star.

Summary :
Burdi was throwing hard for Team USA last summer, but this spring, his mid- to upper-80s slider is more consistently above average, and scouts like his chances of one day being a high-leverage reliever. Burdi really has to open up his hips to get his fastball to his glove side, and it's possible that he never has command of that realm, but his arm side command is fine and he spots the outside corner or just away from it with regularity. If he can work his 80 mph grade fastball there and have some command of his slider, he's a big leaguer.

The White Sox's draft has yielded two of the most big league-ready prospects available in Burdi and Zack Collins. Burdi can hit triple digits with his fastball, with movement on the pitch, and his slider is consistently plus. He did pitch in relief at Louisville, but many teams think he can start. Given how high the White Sox just drafted him, it's likely they fall into that camp.
