The Bulls are fine.

They got screwed by Derrick Rose going from future hall of famer to guy on the Knicks. It's almost impossible to come back from that without a rebuild.

It's rigged now but people don't forget about the early 2000's when star players repeatedly chose other teams over the Bulls. We feel like the Bulls always finish 2nd. Kinda like the Sox. Aggressive enough to be in the conversation but never good enough to close the deal.

Off the top of my head here are the players in the past 15+ years that said no or the Bulls failed to get in a trade.

McGrady
Grant Hill
Jermaine O'Neal
Kobe
Gasol
Wade
LeBron
Marshmelo
Bosh

This is a classic example of revisionist history. The only person on this list that arguably spurned the Bulls was McGrady. That's it.

Against my better judgment I actually did. The only person that the Bulls "failed" to get was McGrady.

I don't consider any of the others a failure on the part of the Bulls. The biggest mistake they made with Gasol was in not drafting him.

Which "other" team did Kobe choose?

At least they are not throwing crazy long term money at mediocre talent.

Besides that, they are a joke and until Reinsdorf dies, GarPax live which means the Bulls suck.

The system is rigged, but even when guys do choose to leave it's never to the Bulls. One can recognize the structural advantages home teams have while also seeing that the Bulls front office nevertheless sucks at its job.

The latter is most vividly highlighted by the "aim for 2017" plan that GarPax currently seem to be aiming towards, at least on days that they're not trying to sign washed up vets. If you know you're unlikely to land a big name in free agency, then why are you clearing cap space to try to land 2 big name guys in free agency? The 2017 plan will work about as well as the 2014 and 2010 ones did.

Kobe doesn't. Bulls did their part and got the Lakers to agree to a trade. Kobe then rejected it because he had a NTC.

They didn't close Kobe on their future plans. He didn't buy they could field a team around him. They didn't convince the Lakers to exclude Deng from the deal.

None of that is the Bulls fault. It's absurd to blame them for that. Blame them for offering a bunch of bullshit for KG, but not the Kobe deal.

I do recall Glen Rice agreeing to terms and then backing out which led to Ron Mercer signing on the dotted line I believe.

However, that was still the Krause era.

Paxson has been too sentimental towards his core. And I believe that stems from the one time he "gambled" (Tyrus Thomas over Aldrige) and it blew up in his face. From that point on, he wasn't going down the risky path, personnel wise. And who knows, if Rose doesn't get hurt maybe he pulls it off.

I forgot about KG. The Gasol deal still bothers me. We didn't want to give up Deng and Tyrus Thomas for a future HoF.

Bulls to sign guard Rajon Rondo to a two-year, $28 million deal, he confirmed to @TheUndefeated.

This guy is going to walk all over Hoiberg. Atleast it's only a two year deal.

I wonder what due diligence they did on this guy. His rep is that of a locker room cancer and a total headcase.

And 2 years?

This had bad written all over it.

I can't see how anyone could reasonably be upset about that, considering the market this summer.

Not sure how he fits into Hoiberg's "system," but I'm okay with it.

I have no issue with that number. Not sure how a guy that dominates the ball will work with Butler and I'm not sure how he fits with Hoiberg.

I think the obvious solution is to fire Hoiberg, trade Butler, and give Rondo the keys to the franchise.

Bad criteria at work here.

Bad reading comprehension at work here, too.

Jesus H. Christ did I just see Rondo is playing for the Bulls now?

ISIS can't get here soon enough.
