Is there really bad Chinese food? When I lived in Oak Park area, I liked Luo's.

Since I've been on West Side, I usually go to Chinese Kitchen on Kedzie and Fillmore or China Phoenix on Madison and Campbell.

Katy's Dumplings in Westmont is my favorite place - stick to the noodle dishes and soups and stay away from the obligatory "standards." Pork Fried Noodle spicy and an order of steamed dumplings is a good start. It is the little ethnic shopping plaza just north of Cass/Ogden.

But the only thing is that the food doesn't really survive takeout very well unless you're only a mile or two away.

Lao Schezuan in Downers Grove used to be my standby for taking food home for later, but that outpost has gone downhill substantially in the last two years and I can't recommend it any more. The flagship was still good a few months ago but I haven't had a chance to get there since the owner plead guilty to tax fraud.
