The general public have issues with these contracts because they see sports as a game and believe their jobs are difficult. It's been this way for about 40 years and it won't change. Some guy will make damn near $100M a year in the next 30 years.

If there wasn't a cap in the NBA, I think you'd be seeing at least 50-75 MIL contracts right now.

I like the NBA/MLB model of having a soft cap. Good teams can stay good if ownership has resolve to pay the punishments.

Eliminating individual salary cap would make the league far more interesting. Superstar accumulating would no longer be the sole model to win games.

It makes my skin crawl when dopey fans say shit like, "I would play for 10% of what they make, and they don't think they make enough". The problem is nobody is paying to watch you play.

What's even better is the "Conservatives" on Facebook who are always praising the free market complaining that a basketball player makes more than a fireman.

No doubt about it.

That's amazing, considering the mount of time he spends here posting.

I think there's some truth to what he's saying. I wouldn't say all fans who take issue with NBA contracts think this way, but enough do. If I remember correctly, the owners' share of revenue is 50% or higher, so whatever absurd amount of money Kevin Durant is getting, Joe Lacob is getting more.

I don't believe it.

Jason Goff has NEVER and would NEVER use the RACE CARD. Shame on anybody here for saying he did.

It's people like you that give message boards a bad name.

When the world is up in arms about a Wall Street hedge fund operator's next reported salary, I hope that Goff can understand that it may not be race at play when the masses jealously complain about a person's earnings.

We got to lift these microwave ovens!

Sometimes Bernstein gets a black caller that tries to claim racism on whatever issue. Bernstein talks down to these callers and says "There is no KKK member underneath your bed contrary to what you think". His way of telling them not to use the race card.

Now, he would never say that to Goff. But I'll bet you he wants to at times.
