So do you encourage Heyward and hope positive vibes produce that elusive hit or razz him?

I don't know if even the Brave can help right this sinking ship.

The all-star break can't come soon enough for this sorry lot.

The challenge here Dman is these are character builder losses. It is important everyone gets these pathetic games under their belts now so when the games matter, and the Cubs do something very Cublike, we remain within certain ethical boundaries a civil society must have. Heavy drinking is ok. Wife and neighbor beating, dog, cat and goose molestation are out.

I suggest we all tune in for the betterment of society.

Hmph. You'd think they would have built enough character during the NLCS last year.

Again how are the Sox doing? I will hang up and wait for my answer. Troll on those who do not care about the Cubs but cannot get the N.L. Central division leaders off their minds.

From the "Not Completely Meaningless" stats folder ... the last six WS Champs had a combined record of 231-230 against teams that were .500 or better. The best of that litter was last year's Royals @ 47-43 -- compare w/ the Cubs' current mark @ 22-18 ... or said another way, an 89-win pace in games played against the Mets, Marlins, Giants, Cardinals, Pirates, Washington Nationals, and Dodgers.

Also, the recent 5-11 slump isn't some bizarre aberration ... compare with those same previous six WS winners' worst stretches:

I'm not back. My better angels have been winning almost every day since about the time drinky decided to get a little stinky.

Still, a loss today and I expect this town to go in to full meltdown mode. You can't lose to Lucas Harrell.

Should have Hammel batting in front of Heyward

I like Zobrist back in the middle.

When Fowler comes back, this lineup will be BEASTLY.

There must be a cell just sitting on Wrigley Field. Cuz the radar shows that it's moved out every where else.

Can't be giving out 2run bombs to Nick Markakis.

Hammel's slide has not only begun, it's in full swing.

Another scoring opportunity here.

I'm really not sure why I can't stop watching until after the break. I keep thinking tonight will be when things turn around.

Cubs better pay Fowler this offseason.

I'm distracted w/ Dallas ... is Hammel hurt or something or was that a wellness check?

If Fowler's absence is the reason they're sucking, then the team's problems run far deeper than his injury.

Two out rally!

This could be a huge win for the Cub.

Unbelievable.

Two home runs for Markakis in one game?

I didn't even think that was humanly possible.

The Cub bullpen makes stars out of schlubs almost every night.
