The challenge here Dman is these are character builder losses. It is important everyone gets these pathetic games under their belts now so when the games matter, and the Cubs do something very Cublike, we remain within certain ethical boundaries a civil society must have. Heavy drinking is ok. Wife and neighbor beating, dog, cat and goose molestation are out.

I suggest we all tune in for the betterment of society.

From the "Not Completely Meaningless" stats folder ... the last six WS Champs had a combined record of 231-230 against teams that were .500 or better. The best of that litter was last year's Royals @ 47-43 -- compare w/ the Cubs' current mark @ 22-18 ... or said another way, an 89-win pace in games played against the Mets, Marlins, Giants, Cardinals, Pirates, Washington Nationals, and Dodgers.

Also, the recent 5-11 slump isn't some bizarre aberration ... compare with those same previous six WS winners' worst stretches:
