Maddon is an egomaniac more concerned with his media persona than anything else. Ricketts is a rich kid who bought an MLB team with daddy's money. Crane Kenney is...Crane Kenney. Rumor I heard at the ASG: Addison Russell is giving Shawn Kemp a run for his money in the procreation with different women department.

why would theo leave now? don't the cubs have to win one before THE PLAN is officially 100% successful? or are we gonna say since wrigley is a/the hot ticket this summer and the $$$/revenue is streaming in all over the place that THE PLAN is a success no matter what might or might not happen in any given october from here til WW3 (which is prolly at most ~2-3 years away, right? =)

plus like, after the cubs where would theo go for a greater challenge? see if the angels will take you on to try and build a winner b4 mike trout is 40+ years old? i.e. "let's try to convince mike to stick around here"

so we might have to start calling him "Assidon Russell" eh? maybe just "AssDon Russell" like he's "the Don of ass" or something?

also nice 1 going to the ASG and all that. was it half spectacle half "means something" half amazing and half san diego strip clubs like i'd normally assume?

Maybe he wants a different challenge in life as a mid 40s guy with FU money.

There is a woman I know with a big time legal job that she is leaving soon. She could go on to a mid six figure job in law easily. She said she wants a radio show.

If they win the WS this year, I expect Theo to move into a role where he's a minority owner but no longer involved in day to day baseball operations. He doesn't exactly have anything else left to prove unless some day MLB expands to 32 teams and he wants to front an expansion franchise and prove he can build from completely the ground up.

If they don't win the WS this year, I pretty much expect Theo back, but the length of the extension may be only 2 years, or one with a mutual option for the second. But if I'm Theo, I'm much better off taking the position that the American Airlines CEO did, which is to be at-will employee paid completely in stock. But stock in what? Just the team? Or the team and various and sundry Wrigleyville Ricketts family real estate enterprises?

Theo has already said he's not going to stay more than 10 years. The faster they win, the faster he can take a break for 4-5 years and then decide if he wants another challenge.

Make it out to Ocean Beach? Place gets fun after sunset, when the families pack up and leave. It's a 24 hour beach. They banned open alcohol a few yeas ago tho. So that put a damper on things.

best bar i've been to in San Diego is right off the airport, Aero Club. Missed a flight once drinking there. Just kept drinking, eating defrosted chicken wings and watching nfl games with Charger fans. Who exist, sorta.

Petco's one of the best integrated into a downtown ballparks I've been to. No doubt helps the Padres have decent-not-great attendance year after year.

Yeah. Hodad's is one of the better burgers I've ever had. They have a stand in the ballpark too but the burgers aren't the same.

Petco is my least favorite MLB park. While the aesthetics are decent, the inside concourse is very poorly designed. It's hard to get around. While San Diego is a great town for weather and beaches, I find the downtown to be rather tame and boring. That gas lamp district is overrated.

I'd take San Fan or Denver any day over San Diego as a place to see a game.

Definitely true. MLB takes control of the park for the ASG and they had FBI guys in there figuring out all kinds of security issues. It was very difficult with all the odd twists and turns in there.

I know the media says otherwise, but administration has done a pretty poor job of managing the real estate development end of The Plan.

Theo might still ask for a piece of them.

I'd take San Fan .

dayum, dawg, what kinda something-something you gettin into? I've enjoyed catching Old 97's at the SD House of Blues post Padres--walking distance from Petco. And Chicago acid-house/weed aficionado Terry Mullan bangin out a set at a lofty downtown San Diego post-Padres. I guess San Diego doesn't meet your extreme standards for F-U-N, maybe if they had one of these, San Fran style:

I'll be in Southern California in a couple of weeks, and I plan on getting down to San Diego. Never been...but it seems like my kinda town.

The city of San Diego has a new label to join its“America’s Finest City” nickname thanks to a new ranking by a popular magazine and the political activism of its mayor.

How about California’s Gayest City?

The Advocate, a national gay magazine, ranked San Diego 14th on its list of the 15 “Gayest Cities in America.” San Diego was the only California city on the list despite San Francisco’s large gay population.

I wouldn't have figured Hatchetman was a subscriber to The Advocate.
