Cutler doesn't allow the Bears to have any backup QBs other than journeyman non-starters. It's in his contract.

I dvr'd and i watched the first 1.5 qtrs... looked exactly like last season. QB pressure was slightly better but still not good enough. i correctly predicted the kevin white screen pass play 2nd play of the game... reminded me of last year where Jay would check to that play and the defense knew the check was coming.

midway through the 2nd i thought to myself that they aren't going to score a point... hit the fast forward button and sure enough i ended up being right.

he looked to thin to be a TE let alone a DE.

It's amazing. Every year they trot out the same garbage and hope it is different because "they don't have any other options" and then an option is easily available after 1 year as a backup and instead they draft a guy that may not even be able to play every down.

They also could have easily traded up to get him too.

Next year, they'll keep Cutler and it will be the same thing until he either has a career ending injury or gets polio from his kid.

I wrote somewhere on here that Cutler would play with the Bears until the end of this contract. I was mocked.

Having Cutler at QB isn't even the dumbest thing they have done over the last year. Getting rid of all of the offensive starters they did is.

He is a lock for another year. If the Bears have brains he is a lock for at least two. If they don't have brains he is a lock for 4.

His contract dips in 17-18 to about 12 million per. That ends up being a steal. There is no incentive to draft a QB in Rd 1 until 2019...depressing, isn't it?

I don't think he is a steal at any price. The same problems exist which basically ensure you'll be an average at best team with him. The goal should be to try and find an elite quarterback and every year with Cutler only delays that search. We saw it with them passing on Lynch this year. Lynch may suck but he may be great. There is no value to having the 15th best quarterback in the league.
