It did not come across like that. Feeling like Hillary is something I would not wish upon anyone.

Jurko?

Funny.

Alright, I should probably go work now in order to make sure we have material for the postgame show.

Finji the Walrus and Zederman should take it home in the final hour of the show and just talk sports. I've been in studio with them and they work their collective asses off and should be rewarded with air time.

I listen from 2 to 6 relegiously so I really have no reason to tune in but at times when I miss segments or a large part of the show I do tune in to hear what I missed, so I do enjoy having that luxury at times but I'm rooting for you Finji and you will be successful just as I predict Jd will be a superstar one day.

Outstanding idea, BM.
Nice compromise there.

ESPN needs to change up the post game show. Finji needs to be responding to what happened during MJH. Play a 30 second or less clip from the show, and then Finji gives his input. You can even have callers responding to what happened.

I would much rather hear a couple of the clips from the Boylan interview and then hear Finji give his thoughts and if there is time some thoughts from other callers.

In the current format, it's not really a post game show. A post game show has highlights but is mostly analysis. When Fox does the post game show after a Bears game they don't simply replay the final 5 minutes of the game, they show a highlight or two and then do there own analysis of it.

My recommendation is to have about 10 1 minute clips from the show available and get through as many as you can but a majority of the show should be new stuff from Finji and new stuff from callers.

Wait... this actually makes sense, Im pretty sure they wont consider it.

I know I'm probably in the minority but I don't like replays of stuff I haven't heard either. I just prefer live radio (unless it's a Ron Zook interview rerack).

I used to have this attitude but after DVR'ing stuff (mainly sporting events) for over a year now, not watching/listening live doesn't bother me in the least anymore with the obvious caveat that I have not been prewarned on what is going to happen.

As for the 6:00 hour I like the format, since I don't hear MJH until after 5 the recap (assuming they pick the best interview or segments) is all right with me.

I've talked to people that don't listen during prior to 6PM, and they say it's a bit disjointed and a rough listen.

I just with it would roll right into THE SHOW from 6PM to 10:30, and then throw PTI at 10:30 as a lead in to the 11PM syndicated show.

I think a lot of the posters are forgetting that the "message boarders" do represent a group - a small percentage of people outside of us who listen as much as we do. These P1'ers aren't a high percentage of their total audience at all. PD's are trying to make sure they can catch the most possible listeners in a 12-minute to 22-minute span of time. Most listeners don't continue to listen when they come home. Heck most listeners can't even make through one commercial break without changing the dial and then forgetting to tune back in time for the next segment. My assumption is the current 6-7 time slot works for what the station is trying to accomplish. It's fine and dandy the majority of us don't like 6-7, but we're a small percentage of people that we'll just be back to tune in from 8am to 6pm tomorrow.

It is what it is. Six to seven is basically a one hour commercial for the MJH show from 2-6.

I don't know where you guys are on the highways during the rush hour but the 6pm hour is filled with traffic on a major highways in the Chicago metro area which then leads me to believe you would have a huge demo of 18 to 54 year old men and women in their cars trying to find something on the radio to get them home. I tend to push the button to 670 am for a live version of my sports nest in the 6 pm hour.

I would agree with Doug's point more than Ryan's and that's not to say either are wrong but you usually follow the people who tend to consume the product more often than not. I don't think the people of Coco-Cola would want advice from people who drink Pepsi.

Then they're missing the best part of the show, all the repeat commercials for Karz4Kidz and the Boat Show.

I don't listen from 2-6 much and am a fan of the show. If I tune in after 6 it seems very choppy. There is something off about it.

You guys aren't getting it. Radio is not a product that is consumed for 8 hours at a time normally. We are a very, very small minority. I guess Finji, Zeterman, and I can't stress that enough without being ignored. These radio stations need to appeal to certain target audiences and glue them in for the short time they listen to the show.

I agree that 6 - 7 is a goofy hour, but it's also a time of day when a lot of their audience is hearing the show for the first time in the day. Should that be live? Absolutely. But, ESPN would be absolute fools to not have MJH on during that timeslot.

My point is everyone needs to think from a PD's perspective and if you go by the numbers we are an important, but very small percentage of listeners.

You're not getting it. I never mentioned these people consumed other products in the day. The point is their drive time is the ONLY time they listen to the radio. This is much more evident that it was years ago when we didn't have the internet and other medias to consume. These people may be loyal listeners, but loyal listeners for only 25-45 minutes a day compared to the rest of us junkies. This is how a lot of people listen to the radio. Again, I do not agree that this should be pre-record bits from 6-7, but I completely stand by Justin Craig's decision to have their most popular show, MJH, on from 6-7 over other programming. It's not a repeat to these people.

Which is the reason I always preferred MJH from 3-7, but it seems that 2-6 is the magic timeslot so I'm out of luck.

Yes and no ..Ryan .... You have a small percentage here but I'm sure we have people we know or do business with who listen to the show and many SHUT it off after the guys are taillights at 6. I know what your saying but another poster made a great point in that if the hardcore guys here are saying it Im sure the audience as a whole would be in agreement.

Many here said Salisbury and Rosenbloom sucked balls after 1 week and by week 3 we all were calling for thier heads and that's not to say in any way, shape or form that's what I want done to Finji , my point is to let him do his own thing in the final hour and hand it off to Chicago programming.. . We might be a small percentage but we seem to know what the fuck were talking about.

Again, you're not getting what I'm saying. I agree with your point. My point is you have a mass of listeners who only listen when they drive. The stuff the replay from 2, 3 and even 4 o'clock is brand new to them from six to seven.

Again, I don't agree with not going live, but it makes sense for the station as a whole to continue with MJH programming, live or not, during the last hour of drive time. With that said, I respect everyone's opinions and good points made in contrast with mine. We rarely seem to have debates like this without a bunch of name calling. Is the board maturing?

Hmm, I did call all of us junkies....

I will bet you a dinner at the Chop house or better yet a Gift certifcate as I don't think we would want to spend a nice dinner together but I would say they change not only PTI or shit can it and either give Finji the hour to himself or turn it over to the 'Show' at 6pm by opening day of baseball?

$150 G.C...

I won't make that bet considering I know certain people aren't happy that they aren't live from 6 - 7. I bet that MJH will be live from 6-7 or they will keep Finji or someone doing show recap stuff up until 7 o'clock by pre-game. I don't think MJH's presence is going away from 6-7.

I hear what you are saying and I don't agree. That is not the same as me not understanding. It's like you are channeling my mother today.

I thought the best of hour was a stupid idea. I don't have a chance to listen as regularly as I once did and changed my mind. Great, I'll still get to hear some of the good parts of the show and see what I missed. The 6 o'clock hour is a weird listen. There is no good flow to it. It's really not good even for the station flippers they catch for a couple minutes.

I do like listening to Finji and I too would rather hear a live broadcast.

Well, maybe your mother is right. I don;t disagree its a stupid idea. However it will continue to bring in MJH listeners who don't listen as much or don;t have as strong connection to the show as you may have. I never made one comment about the structure of the recap show. I don;t disagree that the flow of the show isn't all that great.
