I don't think you know what that means either. Do you have a bunch of memes with a spinning pointer that you use to randomly pick insults?

I'm sorry you don't know the board history and seem to be unaware of the breakdown you exhibited in this thread. It's alright though, I'm sure next thread for you will go better. As I said, White Sox talk makes you nutty.

OK. I'll bite. Quote the part that you say is a breakdown.

The Cubs began spending when the draft picks arrived. What's the argument? Did people think they weren't going to spend money? This isn't Tampa, they are following the Red Sox playbook to the letter. Smart trades, good drafting and spend when you think it makes sense.

I'm not saying it is right or wrong. It just never gets mentioned that they did a lot of free agent signings and many were expensive. I believe they want to be viewed as the small little team that outsmarted baseball rather than the big market big spending team they are. If they win the world series it doesn't matter how they did it. I simply pointed out the third reason they are good and then darkside went all darkside.

Isn't Bryant the only Epstein draft pick on the team?

Technically yes.

Zastryzny (sp?) is in the bullpen but probably sucks.
Soler was a international free agent.
Rizzo but that's not technically correct per your question.

That sure isn't how the narrative is talked about on the score huh.

They seem to act as if everything came onto this current roster as genius drafting and flipping and losing to draft. That is all. I really hadn't thought that Bryant was the only one until Jorr said it.

Well a lot of it is "genius" or luck. Who knows what moves are which. While all the moves are not directly from drafting, MANY benefits realized now were from tanking.

The only Jim Hendry player on the team is Baez. Everyone else was traded for or signed by Theo. But somehow he is a fraud because they won 90 plus last year and have best record this year with free agent signings and young players acquired for mediocre veterans

Don't forget we called Theo Hitler and want him to be tried for war crimes.

With players like Baez, Contreras, Szczur, Hendricks, etc there is the nature vs nurture debate. There likely is no convincing Theo and organization deserve credit for the aforementioned players if you're a believe in nature.

For MANY critics when criticizing the roster as not "home-grown" they refuse to observe the whole chain of events that occurred when the procuring the player.

For a guy like Lester it's very easy since he was a free agent.

But take a look at Russell trade. He was traded along with Straily and McKinney. Hammel and Samardzija were BOTH reclamation projects. Shark was a garbage reliever who they converted into a credible starter.

Then the Cubs used Straily along with Luis Valbuena (a waiver claim!) to acquire Dexter Fowler.

The last piece McKinney was used in the Chapman trade.

For 3 guys in Shark/Hammel/Valbuena they acquire a bundle of talent.

In hindsight all these moves look genius. But that ignores the luck involved. What if Shark DID accept Theo's contract offer? Who knew Valbuena would become a HR masher?

Is drafting then developing a player vastly different than taking a "broken" player and developing him into a credible major leaguer? Developing minor leaguers is harder but still commendable to take "broken" players and make them contributors.

Makes no difference to me where they came from it's a helluva roster. I just pointed out the perception I got from listening to the score.

At the time Joe Orr made his post, he was 100% correct. You don't get accused of being modest, but I bet you get accused of being stupid on almost an hourly basis.
