the thing that has been the most interesting to me is the shear hypocricy of both sides of these argument.

if kap had done so because he disagrees with US acceptance of gay marriage, all the people praising him now would be crucifying him. meanwhile the peopel hypercritical of him would now be the praisers.

if the 49'ers released him stating this as the reason, the current praisers would be mortified. however all of them had no issue with Mozilla making o dude resign because he donated to prop 8 or whatever.

kap can do what he want in my book. kids see the world differently. their exposure to this country is much different than many of ours (us being 35+) i'm not usually opposed to iconoclastic displays of rebellious assholery. the issue here is kap is kind of a retard.

I'm not 100% sure he knows what he's trying to say. He has contempt for a country that enslaved black people and is still doing a good job of holding them down in 2016? Fair enough. But he should probably reserve some contempt for himself for sitting on top of a mountain of cash while others are struggling. That's actually something he can do something about, although I'm guessing he doesn't want to. In spite of his contempt for America, he's a born and bred capitalist. Capitalism = hoarding.

As far as people using their celebrity to push causes or to endorse politicians, okay, that's their right. And I give it the weight it deserves, which in most cases is zero.

His point is that he doesn't have pride in America, which is fine, but if you can afford it you should probably look into moving if you can't look at this country in that kind of way.

There is making a point and then there is what Kaepernick said. I don't care if he hates America but I would question why someone with mobility would choose to subject himself to being here when he has no pride in the country he lives in.

There are things I don't like about our country either. I however wouldn't say I don't have pride in our country even with its flaws.

I don't have much pride in our country. I like the people, for the most part, but the government is evil and kills innocent people daily and covers it up, and that's not even getting into the system racism in the home front. There are a lot of great things about our country, and there are also a lot of very shameful things. I have no issues with someone who was born and raised here trying to call out the flaws of our country and hopefully try to improve things here rather than tuck tail and run to a place that's not his home.
