As someone who likes to follow NBA basketball, who is Kevin Martin? 11 million a year and I would have to look him up.

Kevin Martin is a very lanky player who came out of nowhere to become a good NBA scorer. I believe he averaged around 20 points a game last season, and I know he's an excellent free throw shooter.

Seeing this contract though might set the asking price from Ben Gordon, or at least be in the ballpark for what he is looking for.

  He played well for the Kings last year, and had one game against Kobe where he actually played very good D against him, but that sounds pretty high still. I guess if someone was dumb enough to give Rashard max money, this one almost seems like a bargain by comparison. I would expect Ben Gordon to get more though, $60-70 million if Kevin Martin got that.

Haha it worked. I dont know which is sadder, the fact that he got this contract, or the fact that I thought about it for a second, and its actually not even close to some of the really bad contracts lately. It almost makes sense in terms of the NBA landscape today.

Watched a little of the Kings-Raptors game last night. They got Bibby and Artest back last night. With Martin back now as well, they have a pretty nice squad. I won't go as far as to say they'll make the playoffs or anything since it seems a foregone conclusion that they're going to trade Artest and Bibby. Still, a team with Bibby, Artest, Martin, Salmons, Garcia, Brad Miller & Udrih seems pretty solid. I look for them to be a pain in the ass to some of the top tier teams and their future looks pretty damn good, should be interesting what they can get for Bibby & Artest

I'll probably end up looking like a fool but I think the Kings look like they could knock off the Pistons right now

74-73, 3rd...

Yeah, like I was saying before this Kings team isnt bad. They have alot of good pieces and would be great if they could actually get something in return for Artest and Bibby.

With a healthy squad of Bibby, Martin, Artest, Miller, and then some of their role players who have played well this season (Salmons and Udrih), this is a team that's going to win it's share of games. I don't see a very athletic team, but one that knows what it's doing, and could out-execute other teams.

The Western Conference playoff picture is very interesting. Only about 5 games seperate the top 8 teams, and then there are teams like Houston or Utah not even in the playoffs currently. I believe New Orleans is at the top, and it's so fluid that one loss by them drops them to 4 or 5 depending on what the rest of the conference does.

Injuries will probably determine if somebody falls out, but it's looking like every game matters out there for earning a spot as well as playoff positioning.

It will be interesting to see how the Lakers play without Bynum for the next 2 months. Kuame Brown is bad. He's got no touch around the basket and LA is really going to miss the consistent numbers that Bynum was producing. So far, they struggled to beat Seattle, and got slapped by Phoenix at home.

I watch a lot of NBA games and from my perspective, Martin is a better player than either Gordon or Deng......he is worth the money.

I wouldnt say hes for sure better than Deng. Definitely better than Gordon. He doesnt have an all around game yet, and while he is pretty good defensively, he's really just a shooter, and a damn good one. I still think I would rather have Deng long term than Martin. I would, however, probably have Martin for 5 yrs 55 mill than Deng for 5 years 80 mill if thats what he gets this offseason.

RIght now, Martin at 11mil/yr is a bargain

Martin- 24.9, 4.6, 1.8 (+1.3 stl), 47% FG
Deng- 18.1, 6.8, 2.5, 48% shooting

Pretty close, actually
