Listen folks, I'm the one who turned around 6 failed elixir collectors. Now they are the best. My elixir collectors collect so much more than anyone else. Do you think Crooked Hillary can do that? She doesn't even have them. <laughing in the audience> No, no, no, I'm serious. She makes other people collect it and donate it to her war castle. And don't get me started on walls. My walls are the best. Crooked Hillary still has wooden walls. It's embarrassing. She's pathetic. She shouldn't be allowed to join a clan let alone be the leader of the clan.

Uninstalling Clash Royale is the greatest thing I've ever done. It is less a game and more of a thinly veiled cash grab. It is probably the most pathetic F2P game created.

They just changed the entire end-game progression system because people weren't throwing enough cash at the game due to frequent 'ladder resets' and people started to feel like their money wasn't getting them further through the game.

How dare a free game that gave you hours of enjoyment expect you to spend a 5 bucks every once in a while.

And you're locked into mediocrity due to the fact that you will be matched up against those with higher level troops than you that your higher skill level won't counter. Hell, you were level 10 with higher troops than I were and you aren't even dealing with the frustrations of the ~3000 trophy dance. Talk to me about your level of frustration in a few months when you get there.

How dare a free game that gave you hours of enjoyment expect you to spend a 5 bucks every once in a while.

I've spent $150 total on Clash of Clans. I've spent $30 or so maybe on Royale. I'm not against spending money to 'hurry' things.

I'm not accepting of a game that requires it consistently, and specifically matches you up against opponents that, due to exchange rates, are able to spend very little money in order to make it impossible for a skill-based player to progress.

There are enough players playing at any one moment for the matchmaking to put you up against western hemisphere opponents...or to make it where the average 'level' of troops must be within a certain percentage. However...when you win 5 straight and then get matched up against opponents that severely outlevel you for your next 10 games...well, the logic behind the matchmaking is evident.

Progression based on skill is purposely hampered in order to keep people in each arena / each trophy level longer = greater chance of paying.

Soon you will be able to mute your opponents emotes. What is the point of even playing this game if it doesn't even seem like you are playing another person.

The point is for Supercell to make money. People quitting = lost revenue.

Hah.

I was a taunter. I was part of the problem.

But no...there are plenty of games that are actually fun to play while remaining competitive. Having played almost every major 'competitive' game to come out in the last 20 years...I have a pretty good feel. This one's design and matchmaking is suspect, to say the least.

It isn't fun when the game is designed to halt and slow progression.

I guess you haven't played many games where leveling your character gives you an advantage over others. They aren't designed to be chess. Someone who has put in more time or effort(or even money) gets an advantage.

I didn't spend any money because I didn't see a point in doing so.

It is starting to get a little boring though because I've had one legendary for a while. That's my only real complaint.

If that was the mechanic, that would be fine.

However, the matchmaking mechanics seem more in depth than that. I'd bet a lot of money that there are behind the scenes hard counters based on win streaks. Additionally, you mention legendaries. The only people above 3,000 right now have a miner or lumberjack...and usually both. I was facing players with four legendaries in their decks...usually all were level 2. People get multiple super magical chests? I've never even had one.

Most games you can jump into...even if they have levels...have balance and honest matchmaking. Again...this is the only game I can think of where you have to pick your deck / hero / units before it starts matchmaking you...instead of finding an opponent and then choosing your deck or cards...why do you think that is?

The matchmaking seems fine. You just hit a natural ceiling with your cards that you can't beat until you get better cards so after a big winning streak you are more likely to face people with those cards. I just consider it that I was able to get a little too high up for what my actual level of cards and skill should be and it was a correction.

What you have to remember with any ELO like system is that it is working perfectly if you win roughly 50% of the time. So if you win 4 then you should at some point lose 4 until you get either more skill or better cards.

Most people in the top 50 overall are using Poison-Giant-Mini Pekka-Zap-Musketeer-Ice Spirit-Elixir Collector-skeleton guards. Legendaries are only very useful against unskilled players.

If you reinstall the app and just look, you'll realize this response was silly. First two battles when I opened up TV Royale were these two:

I have found that when i put money into CR (three times right now, all $5-$10 each), I get a really good winning streak for a while, even if my investment isn't put into the deck with which I'm playing.

So I think the ELO is only part of it. There seems to be a "this guy sucks against this combination" where if you don't put money in and you show a weakness against say balloon+giant+fire spirits, that this is all you will see for a while.

The only way I have found to combat that a little bit is to switch my 8th card every ten matches or so, I tend to rotate between it minion horde, skeleton army, and if I'm seeing a lot of hog riders then I'll swap in another building of some sort.

Anyone else do the $9.99 Black Friday offer? 125k of the dark plus 1200 gems was well worth it imo.
