hey, you've still got solid $$$ invested in cutler for the rest of his contract (at this point do you think john fox is gonna wanna rebuild with young/er QB X? hell naw, as long as cutler continues to improve i think/hope he's sticking around) so you might as well make sure you keep your "freak" guard around to help him stay upright.

unless this move ends up costing you a proper skill position player on offense (say, alshon if he ends up being worth a deal) or some kind of important defensive piece then i'm good with it. while i know it's en vogue to want to wish away cutler because he wasn't what we all hoped he'd be during his first 7 seasons here, man, you could do a hell of a lot worse.... and we're bears fans: we know "a hell of a lot worse" so as long as he doesn't take a serious step/leap backwards (and especially IF he keeps on improving with this newfound maturity/leadership thing) --- keep him upright! give him time! see what he can do!

realistically some kind of magic jay cutler season = the best chance the bears have of doing anything in the near/ish future, so midaswell do your bet to keep him upright and having more than 2 seconds.
