AKA: Sony really really really wants you to buy a new TV.

This thing was a shitshow. I mean, the price is fantastic (399), but the presentation and content they showed was pretty awful.

Also, I'm already seeing that it doesn't do 4K Blu Ray...if that's true, someone at Sony needs to be fired.

I've never liked Sony TVs.

Can I tie a belt around my neck, jerk off and finish in its HDMI port?

4k gaming and 4k via apps.

Confirmed it doesn't do 4K Blu Ray.

Sony's first fuck up of the current gen.

4K is a fad.

so in your opinion TV resolution has peaked at 1080p or 4k will be skipped in favor of even finer resolution for wide spread adoption?

Until home televisions average 65"+ in size, 1080p is the peak. 4K on a 47" TV is such a waste.

Folks should be far more worried about their TV's contrast and refresh rates. And in most environments, trying to find the balance of glossy vs matte screen. (reflections versus darkness of blacks)

Most content consumed is 1080p, and "upscaling" isn't native 4K.

MANY sit too far from their TV's for native 4K to make much of a difference, anyway. For a 47 inch screen, you'd have to sit no more than 6.5 feet away to notice more detail than 1080p.

The real advantage of 4K is the nearly-mandated HDMI 2.0 spec, which allows for 60fps at higher resolutions, so you could hook up a beast PC to a bigger screen and still game/stream at high framerates. The bandwidth needed for delivery is also immense.
