Thursday Night Football is always a shitshow. The crews suck, the players are gassed, and now the uniforms are ridiculous. The league had it right when they only did Thursday/Saturday games from Thanksgiving to the end of the year. They got greedy, but who can blame them when NBC and CBS are so desperate for content that they'll pay out the ass for low-quality footbaw?

Well Brandon Marahall just tore his ACL.

Funny that he survives fine on Soldiers Field grass, then gets hurt on field turf.

I used to enjoy the original ESPN Sunday Night Football. It seemed like they were the wedged-in bullshit matchups that everyone knew were not worth watching. but for those like me that enjoyed torturing myself with bad football, we were treated to the sonic voice of mike patrick, the grumblings of paul maguire and the inane obnoxious rambling of joe theismann. that's sometimes the only way i got to watch saints games.

at least then, they knew it was garbage and broadcast it as such.

now, it's like they're really trying to convince you that this is good football. even though they're putting these players in glorified pajamas or snuggies, and most of the players just get hurt or look like shit.

Let's give them credit though, this has been a decently played game. Coaching on the other hand....

Anyway, Fitzpatrick plays exactly like Peyton from last year or the year before. Zero zip to any passes and he just lofts up outside passes that should be bullets but just makes the right read every single time.

Fitzpatrick IS a competent QB. Not flashy, but he's not bad either.

Can't really tell the difference between Fitzpatrick and Cutler.

A record of 43-62-1 doesn't exactly indicate 'competent' ... nor does a QB Rating of 80.8.

They're completely different players. Fitzpatrick makes way less mistakes.

Look at what he's done in his last 20 games. Rich Gannon was a late bloomer too. He's been very competent so far this year and last year.

Edit: he's been on shit teams for the most part but throwing out the record, an 80 QB rating certainly does suggest a competent QB.

Hmm ... who knew that a fella that more interceptions more often than the other would be considered to be making less mistakes. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Was it a pretty nasty hit that knocked out Taylor? I was washing the dishes when it happened and didn't see it.

I wasn't making an argument of Cutler vs Fitz. Talk to 312 about that. You're gonna tell me if you look at all of last season and so far this season you don't think Fitzpateick is competent? We're not talking about a high bar here, man.

Yeah, ESPN Sunday Night Football always felt perfunctory at best and grim at worst. So many Ravens/Texans/Jaguars/Titans games.

The other downside of these Thursday night "featured" games is they take a game off the Sunday schedules. I used to like looking at coverage maps where Fox or CBS would have six games to carry and there would be the F-Team game (appropriate) of, like, the Chargers and Jaguars that would only be televised in San Diego and Jacksonville, and that was provided the home market didn't get blacked out. Now that ass-end game is a hot national property. Ugh.

Okay ...

- my post was in response to Dr. Football's, the main implication of which was that Fitz was obviously a better QB than Jay
- there's no data to suggest that ... none ... whether you want to compress it to roughly the last season or overall careers
- for whatever reasons ... boredom chiefly amongst them I'm sure ... you decided to ignore the noted context and focused on the completely subjective word "competent" ...
- your vague contention that he makes 'less mistakes' than Cutler was proven wrong by a rudimentary examination of easily accessible data and, as a result, it would appear that you elected to pivot back to the subjective "competent" contention as a fall-back position

Regardless of whether either one is competent, dummy is (unsurprisingly) wrong whichever the case may be. I don't know what in the high holy hell your point was nor, might I add, why you tried to make it.
