Keep it in your pocket until it's completely thawed.

Wrap a room temp beer in a wet paper towel and put it in the fridge. It will be ice cold in 20 minutes.

The same thing works, but in the freezer for five minutes.

Also a salt/ice/water bath gets betters from room temp to ice cold in about 5-10 minutes.

The fastest way to cool beers... and you can do a few at a time this way... is to put a pot of water on the stove and add some vegetable oil. Put the beers in and boil the water. The oil will actually coat the beers and a chemical reaction makes them get extremely cold even as the water boils around them. The more oil, the more quickly it works.

This definitely works. My wife saw it on Pinterest, and we tried it.

A decent beer doesn't have to be ice cold. It's a matter of preference, though. Most of your darker beers (which I tend to drink) taste better to me at room temp. :drunken:

This guy gets it. Doesn't take more than 2-3 min this way.

Good news guys. The beer survived. Didn't seem too worse for wear. Maybe a little wet cardboard aroma, but that may have been there the whole time. Thanks for the well wishes, especially the PMs.

That really is a relief... feeling very good for you today. One trick you might use for the future is when you put your beer in the freezer, take a shoe off and put it there too. That way when you're ready to leave the house, you go to put on your shoes and think "Oh yeah, I need my shoe... and my beer."
