We've been fed this line of thinking by the Bulls that they want to draft players who were winners in college. They almost seemed proud that they drafted players from Duke, Florida, Kansas, and Connecticut. They thought that would somehow the fact that these players had been on championship quality teams or won championships would make them a championship quality team.

I hope I never have to hear this again. The idea is flawed and it's shown with the performance this year. A team full of "winners" wouldn't play like a bunch of uncaring losers.

If the Bulls really want to go down this road, they should hire Dicky V as their next coach. As a Duke fan, even I cringe every time I hear him overrate some mediocre player as a "winner".

I seem to remember hearing JJ Reddick was a "winner". I don't remember hearing anything about him since.

I agree with the Ben Wallace point, but Im not sure how well the idea was working. It seemed like the perfect formula to make the playoffs every year, but when you have a GM whos too scared to make the big trade to land a superstar then thats pretty much all you were going to get. This team never had a chance of winning a championship without a superstar, only 1 or 2 teams in the past 30 years have won a title without a definitive top 5 player in the league(The '04 Pistons jump to mind, arguably the '99 Spurs too but that was a weird season.)

Yeah I heard that too The guys were nice about it but yeah if K didnt take the Lakers job he definitely would not be interested in this mess.

I think there's a .000000000001% chance he ever leaves Duke

It's barely an accomplishment to make the playoffs. Teams with losing records make the playoffs yearly now it seems.

I think the whole premise is flawed and I don't think it was ever working. Is Chris Duhon more likely to succeed because he played for good Duke teams? Is Joakim Noah's championship experience helping him this year? Has Kirk Hinrich shown that he is able to use his college experience to lead the team to wins in the playoffs?

I just think that it is something that sounded good and in theory it sounded like a halfway decent plan but I never want to hear about it again. It didn't work. It probably never will with these players.

As much as I hate to do this, I have to disagree with you about Laettner

His 1st 8 years in the league were pretty solid, averaging around 17 & 8. That's not too bad. Started to fade after that, but 8 years is a pretty good run
