This happens every time Cutler goes out. The backup, who usually has half the talent, looks great. They eventually regress to just competent, but to a Bears fan, competent looks gorgeous. The team will gain yardage on first and second down, and they even pick up a few third downs. It's not that the backup is a savior... they just know how to manage an offense and stay in rhythm.

Also, re: Hoyer hitting people in stride, I can count on one hand the number of times I can remember Cutler hitting someone in stride. Cutler's completions come via throwing high balls to big receivers and having to drill it in (which he can) before the defense reacts. Cutler simply can't "throw someone open." That's why he looks like absolute garbage against good defenses.

Nice to see something positive out of one of the young guys today in Howard. O-line looked a little better too but still had some real shit moments as well. Defense was solid. Overall, the Bears finally looked prepared to play a damn game this week.

Cutler better be done too. Whats the point of ever letting him take a snap again in a Bears uniform?

I know, this is a terrible development right as the Cubs are entering the postseason. Now we have to indulge the fantasy that the Bears aren't shit because they eked out a win against shitty Detroit.

If someone is willing to trade for a QB that has talent but isn't great, that might also be cut or just on the market after the season anyway.

I'd do it if I were the Bears, but I don't see a team in contention that's a QB away pulling the trigger on Jay at this point. Hope I'm wrong.

Low hanging troll fruit imo, but I wouldn't put it past someone motivated enough.

well its true if we win next week and the packers and vikings lose twice in one week we could easily end up deep in the post season with a shot at winning the nfc title game...

Lots of teams would take cutler. Hell the vikings would take him. Theres still bear fans that say hes good... And thats fine. He is technically better than hoyer. But hoyer just lit a fire under this team... So fuck cutler he needs to go.

We just need one dumb team. Just like the Broncos only needed us.

Like I predicted, Foxy is going to coach 6ish wins out of this dumpster, just NOT bad enough to be out of the realm of getting Kizer. And yes, Watson isn't really worth losing for. Plan maybe Myles Garett in the 1st round then Chad Kelly in the 2nd round.

Myles Garret plays what in Fangio's scheme?

Where PUP McPhee plays, when he isn't hurt.

Garrett's great, no doubt, but we are talking about taking a 4-3 defensive end in college and converting him to OLB in the NFL. It doesn't always work. The returns on Clowney's transition in Houston are a mixed bag. Besides, the front 7 of the defense is the strongest part of the team right now, and McPhee hasn't even played yet. Barring injury, Garrett is going top 2 or 3 in the draft.

If the Bears are in the top 3 I think drafting Garrett is a wasted pick. Not because of talent, but because there is no future at the QB position on this team. Kizer is the player every Bears fan should be hoping for. With an outside hope of Jabril Peppers being there if Kizer is already gone.

I don't trust any QB coming from under Brian Kelly's tutelage. They as befitting their coach(ing) are often erratic and only seem to perform when the pressure is off.

And fwiw, Watson IS worth losing for imo.

Cutler seems like a great player for Fisher out in LA. Both of them seem talented but they never really perform. Let him play a year or two out in LA where no one cares about the NFL and then Goff can take over.

Steak Dinner Boom.

Watson is just like Cutler, big arm, but he doesn't know how to use it. He never hits a guy in stride. Kizer is a much better true passer. And I hate Notre Dame. Kizer succeeds in spite of Brian Kelly, remember that dumb shit Kelly has Kizer as a part time QB to start the year.

I think arm strength may be the most overrated attribute in a QB. These guys all had cannons:

Cutler
Jeff George
Jamarcus Russell
Kordell Stewart
Michael Bishop (I think he threw it like 60 yards from his knees or something)
Sexy Rexy (not as strong as the others but still strong)
Mike Vick
Kyle Boller

And while there were certainly successful QB's with rockets (Favre, Marino, Elway) the top two QBs of this generation are not necessarily known for their arm strength (Manning, Brady). You could even throw in Brees.

Given the choice, you'd obviously take a stronger arm than a weaker one, but it's not the end-all-be-all.

I'm tired of hearing the analysts bring up Cutler's arm strength. He rarely uses it to maximum advantage. It's always jump balls to big receivers like Jeffrey or Marshall. That doesn't take much talent. He can't locate that big arm.

Brady has a strong arm. He was dropping 40 yard bombs to Moss on the regular during the 16-0 season.

Bree's also has a cannon. Peyton had a great arm with the Colts.
