Finally a coaching staff that refuses to tie their fate to Cuntler. My respect level for Foxy and CO just when from in the dumpster to maybe climbing out of it.

If they bench Cutler, I'll start rooting for them again.

it's brian hoyer... he'll fall back to earth with some shitty performances like he has at every other stop he's made on his journeyman career.

What would the reason be for Jay playing again this year?

Exactly. People are insane. Cutler is still the best QB on this team currently by a very wide margin

The margin isn't that wide, but Matt's question is the only important one here. What does upgrading from the 30th best QB in the league up to the 20th best really accomplish, considering the rest of the team is in rebuild mode?

no hes not. he has the strongest arm, thats it. everything else about hoyer is better. hes not more accurate than hoyer. he doesnt lead the team anywhere close to as good. he actually demotivates players and hoyer gets them fired up. hoyer has a better qb rating this year.

and dont give me 'best bears qb of all time' bullshit. im sure he is. what a fuckin shit ass accomplishment that is.

btw, jimmy johnson very specifically said jay probably has thrown his last pass as a bear. he wouldn't say that on suspicion. this guy knows people in the league... you know for sure he heard someone say something, and i would bet it was john fox saying 'fuck that guy'

would you want to rebuild a team with the 30th best leader in the league or the 20th best?

get cutty back playing again... hopefully playing at an acceptable level too... his contract is VERY reasonable for the rest of its term. if they can trade him for ANY draft pick at the end of the year it would be a win for the organization

Neither, but probably the 30th if my goal is to be in a position to draft a potential franchise QB.

i would just release him. fuck it. the message it would send to the rest of the team would be valuable. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4xmckWV ... WVPRaI#t=0

As beat up as he gets, Cutler should be thrilled if they offer to bench him for a few games.

when have the bears drafted anyone in the 1st round that mattered? shit, how many 1st round quarterbacks ever actually worked out? arent most of the great ones found by anyone lower in the draft anyway?

orton was 4th round, and we would love to have a guy like that even over hoyer.

No, most of the good ones are found in the first round.

Also, the "but they'll just fuck up the draft anyway" is a terrible rationalization. Not only is it not true (necessarily), but if anyone truly believes that then all hope is lost and just go root for another team.

I'm not sure Hoyer sucks enough to get us a top 3 draft pick.

well you do make a good point. some of our 1st round draft picks the last 20 years have done very well on other teams.

we havent been able to win 8 games a year with cutler lately. so yea, i guess lets put that guy back in. let the misery continue and lets convince the couple of good prospects to defect. cutler comes back and howard is on the patriots next year in a blockbuster deal.

Agreed FF.

So many Bears fans, myself included have never actually seen a franchise QB play for our team. With only being a Bears fan, and not an NFL fan MANY have no idea about the process of acquiring or developing an elite level QB. Or their just morons.

Yes, I am legitimately worried a Hoyer led Bears team will win 6 games and put us right back at #11 in the draft. The cycle will never end.

This statement is mind-boggling. How does Cutler continue to get people to think he's good with absolutely no evidence that he's good? It's really a bizarre phenomenon... like Stockholm Syndrome or something.

Cutler and Hoyer each have a good sample size to draw conclusions from. Know what the difference in their career QB ratings are? They're nearly identical. It's less than a point.

Where are you getting that Cutler is good? I really want to know.

Cutler was top 10 in DYAR two years ago. One single metric from one single season of a 33 year old QB. That's about the extent of the statistical evidence that supports a case for him being good.
