I am curious why y'all listen.

The only, and I mean only reason I listen is Stone on Tueday mornings.
That is it. When he's not on I never listen. That's my excuse. What's yours?

I don't hate the show, I do prefer local talk so I sometimes flip to him during commericals of my favorite morning show on 560AM (shameless plug). Occasionally, there are some real gems like the Al Jefferson conversation that I lucked out and heard.

I don't listen. That's the truth. Haven't listened in well over a year.

I just comment on the stuff you guys write. I don't comment that much here anymore.

I am endlessly fascinated by Mike's recounting of his adventures with the Notre Dame High School basketball team.

Mike North is like a MCDonalds in a hood......you hate the service and the attitudes, but there is really nothing else close by and you dont feel like going (or dialing in this case) anywhere else. Now if there is an alternative "Chicago" sports show between 6-9am then i'll have a choice. But I havent listened to North after 9 since Silvy and Waddle started.

I only listen to North when Mike & Mike go to a commercial. I only have a 15 minute drive to the train station to hear anything in my car. So I actually only listen for about a total of 5 actual minutes. And I still hear one ingorant comment a day.

It's true, but I'm still light years ahead of Mike North.

I am a sports junkie--in particular, a Chicago sports junkie. I do 90% of my listening to North on the couple days a week I have to some heavy driving for my job.

Despite the fact that he's an ignorant self-obsessed boob, he does occasionally have guests with something interesting or informative to say and if there's any breaking sports news, the Score will certainly cover it. As a self-described sports addict, that's what I want and I like the concept of the Score very much and have listened to it since Day One. I think I have the right to say that I love having an all-day sports-talk station in town, but that I am really disappointed in the quality of the morning show and wish it could get better. A board like this is a great place to vent my frustrations over that show and its host. As other posters have pointed out, there aren't really other alternatives for those of us who want a heavy dose of local sports in the morning.

And yes, there are many times when I'm in the car and he launches into one of his segments that I know will have no redeeming value, and I do simply turn him off for a few minutes. After a while, his voice alone becomes like fingernails on a blackboard to me and I DO know how to use the off button on my radio.

So the answer seems to be "because it's there"?

Man you could pick one......For instance, there is one on 79th and Yates (Regular Reader probably knows this one well) and I hate that one so much that if I really want Mcd that bad I'll drive out of my way to go to the one on 91st and Commercial because it's ran much better (and ran by Hispanics).

I remember back before the current trend of fast food places being open real late, the McD's on 127th & I-57 was one of the few 24 hours places. The few times I went there it was pretty dreadful....the wait was horrendous even if there wasn't anyone in line and the food was not prepared that well, probably been sitting around for hours

Since I'm from out West, I'll give you the one on Roosevelt and Kedzie. Rude service; and don't even think about walking in there with a Hispanic girl (like I did). Those black girls glare at you like you just shot somebody. I'm sure them bitches spit in our food.

Honestly, what else am I supposed to listen to? Music or WBBM puts me to sleep if I try and listen at 6am while driving...I don't want to pay for satellite radio...and every other show on at that time is horseshit. Not to say North's show isn't ALSO horseshit...but at least his ignorance and bigotry usually makes me feel better about myself by proxy. Kind of like watching the Jerry Springer show, or Cops.

If he is only doing a 3.1 and getting beat badly by...well everyone,

Sometimes I find it amsuising to listen to how bad he is...and knowing he thinks it is good. I am a channel changer though & a sports fan so basically my choice is limited to two shows in the morning...though I do listen to Steve Dahl a lot more in between M&M
