TvR back in lineup tonight after sitting the past 3 games. Hawks are likely showcasing him in hopes of trading him.

Looking forward to not having my mind of the Cub for a few hours.

Thanks for the thread ... surprisingly, hadn't been paying much attention what with the unpopular sport of baseball being all the rage.

I don't want TVR traded, nor do I want him playing every night with Forsling's ahead-of-schedule breakout. If you lose him to Las Vegas for nothing, fine, you signed him for nothing. If you add up all the offdays the 30+ d-men require, that's too many for Rozsival to take on himself.

The Beastie Boys' "Girls" ... ... have no idea if they play that regularly or not ... whichever it is, it's amusing in its own way.

Yeah I've been finding it hard to give any fucks about hockey so far this year. Add in thinking the Blackhawks aren't going to be any good this year and it's tough to get into.

Another pp goal given up. Motte scored his first goal.

I've only been glancing here and there. Is this a February Effort game?

Defense is playing bad again, giving up a lot of SOG

I'd say the effort is there. They just aren't very good. I'm okay with that.

He did a good job getting the shot on goal that led to Motte scoring

Yeah, before that he was doing a lot of watching. He doesn't seem quick tonight or something.

yeah, generally i don't think that anyone outside of a handful of people truly and genuinely give a fuck about blackhawks' regular season hockey because i'd say that something like 90%+ of the bandwagon is comprised of people who are more fans of "winning" than "the blackhawks" or especially "hockey" in general. even when the hawks were doing their little SF giants type dynasty over the ~5 year stretch i don't think that most people truly gave a rat's ass during the regular season.... and nowadays you don't need Curious Hair to tell you that there's a pretty damn good chance that the hawks' championship window is closed (and thus it only matters if the proverbial blackhawks bird can fly through the closed glass window that it technically had no idea existed right there =)

so hey CH, is the last great and bountiful blackhawks empire officially over yet?

Oh yeah. I don't think there's a fanbase in the NHL that knows less around the league than ours.

Hawks lose to the winless Blue Jackets. I guess they tried, at least.

so i suppose that question where i asked you if the hawks' window-is-closed/dynasty-is-over goes without saying?

It will be interesting to see how the fans go the next few years.

It's not nailed shut because they'll probably make the playoffs and hockey is weird, but they're a real longshot this year. Most likely the good times are over.

They'll go fast.

Some will for sure, but I think they'll retain 30%ish or more. They really brought long time fans that gave up on them back, and they have a solid crop of say 7-13 year olds that love it. I think IL youth hockey has seen about a 20% growth in the last ten years. Our park district sets up rinks at a few of the parks and they get pretty active.

Maybe I'll finally be able to add 2 seats to my package so I'll have 4. Been trying for years.

I did watch most of the game over at an impromptu kids playdate in Waukegan. Hawks weren't particularly impressive. I did get to try some $3500 a bottle cognac...not my thing.

I don't know whether it's early-season weirdness or a deeper problem, but the penalty kill is only 8/19 through five games. Meanwhile, the Hawks have only given up five goals at even strength, which is top five in the league. How is this possible? What on earth are we paying Marcus Kruger so much money to do?
