He panics very easily. He was awful most of the playoffs.

Maybe they will fire Maddon. Then the Sox will fire Renteria and hire Maddon for fun.

Maddon would be the bench coach.

Yep, he's great with letting guys be themselves, setting the mood, being positive, etc. but as an in game manager, he panicked when the chips were down.

On the national stage too. He needs to redeem himself big time.

He wanted to demonstrate his importance by "making moves".

Let's not forget the call for Javy to bunt.

Yep,you hit the nail on the head. Totally different game if he leaves Hendricks in until he actually get's in to trouble.

I called that before Smoltz did.

Joe is somewhat predictable.

I believe he is great at developing talent and creating a comfortable atmosphere. His in-game decisions were bad throughout the playoffs, though. They won last night in spite of him. He's way too quick to yank someone.

Yeah a 2 strike bunt call against Shaw should have gotten him fired on the spot.

Cub fans firing managers less than 24 hours after winning their first championship since Teddy Roosevelt.

Dale Sveum would have won this in 3 games.

Well, he does spend a lot of time in Wrigleyville.

When in Rome...

I'll echo Leash's comments. Managing is 2-parts 1) Bringing out the best in your players and developing them 2) in game decision making.

Joe clearly has #1 down and I would never take that away from him, but as NAS said...he tried his best to fuck this game up.

I learned from the WS that I'm really glad Joe Maddon is not managing my team.

I'm on your side here but with that logic I guess NBA players don't matter cause I've heard consistent comaints about LeBron for years

Game 7 was bad. Before that he was fine, imo

People wanting to save Chapman for Game 7 before Game 7 was confirmed are nuts

I guess I'm in the minority here. I thought he made a few questionable moves but overall he was good (prior to his game 7 insanity)

I agree but I wonder when Hector Rondon became the invisible man.

When he got injured/lost confidence/became pissed about his role.

I agreed with RPB.

Game 7 had some bad moves, but overall I am fine with what he has done.

I think Francona is a good manager and I thought he had some real bad moves this series as well.

I didn't like the quick trigger finger Joe had. I didn't like Tito showing no confidence in anyone other than Kluber, Miller, Shaw and Allen. Sometimes you just have to trust your guys and let the game happen.

I do like that Joe stayed the hell away from Rondon and Strop in game 7. I honestly would have felt better with Woody, Montgomery and Edwards and each one would have to give up a hit or bad walk for me to pull them. If Woody was getting outs I would have let him go 3.

Game 7 was bad, game 6 was equally awful..stick with Jake and let him throw 125 pitches and get ya through 8... He panicked and burnt out Chapman when we had a 5 run lead...if Chapman is not be used in game 6, he mows em down in game 7 and no extra innings.

They used Chapman like a rented mule which he was. Rondon was never the same after the DL stint. Still a big part of next season and beyond however.

Ricky did get a raw deal but I loved the hiring of Joe. That being said, he made bad move after bad move in game 7 and he would have been fucking roasted had they lost.
The Cubs won that game despite Joe having one of the worst managerial games I can remember him or anyone else having in such a critical game.

The same way anyone would. Sit on the bench and watch Lester and Hendricks and Rizzo and Bryant kick ass.

Correct. It's not a difficult concept.
