You, Pat & Ron have become one of the best broadcast team around.

You're informative, entertaining and humorous. The callers are treated well and your contributions during the broadcasts are terrific. Well done.

Yeah, Grote does a great job. Best in that role since Andy Masur, though I wish they'd let Mark call Pat's off-inning.

He was so deliriously happy last night. Guy was fucked up, realized it and got help, and landed in the plum role. It is clear that Pat and Ron genuinely like him. I'm so happy that Wayne Randazzo went to the Mets, because even though i didn't mind Wayne and he does a good job with Howie Rose and Josh Lewin, I like Grote better.

I am looking forward to him being back on M&H doing updates this winter. And I think that next year he's going to get some more exposure to PBP, as Pat seems to be slowly scaling back on stuff like taking the game after a west coast trip off.

In many ways, he is the anti-Bernstein.

I'm not crazy about Coomer. Everyone who hasn't been Ron Santo, from Otto to Moreland to Coomer, has at best just been "there" to me. But Pat Hughes is one of the best play-by-play guys in the business, no question. Shame he's taking days off these days, but then again he's been around longer than we realize, having been Uecker's backup for a really long time.

Santo is untouchable. But Coomdog is great. FAR SUPERIOR to Otto and Moreland.

I like Grote and was glad when he got tapped for the job. The comeback angle just makes it all the better to see him succeed.

I didn't mind Moreland myself, but I don't listen to the regular season games all that closely. I'm usually doing something else at the same time.

He wasn't necessarily a great broadcaster, but you could tell he really suffered through some bad Cubs' baseball. The Brant Brown call is still classic. Pat and Ron were like "The Odd Couple" of broadcasters and Pat regularly made fun of Ron but necessarily mean-spiritedly.

I like him better than listening to Chris Rongey. But I guess my dislike of Rongey is mostly for sometimes unnecessarily defending the White Sox to the fans that called the post-game shows.

He's unlike all of the other SCORE guys. He can be funny when he tries to be funny. The other SCORE guys try to be funny and fail. And he's just not an ass hole. Where the other SCORE guys are ass holes.

He's the one young guy that got to THE SCORE and didn't think he had to be like Bernstein.

The imitations get old. But the times I've listened to Cubs pre and post, he doesn't do them that much. He did them too much on his Saturday show with Rosie.

Rongey was such a stooge. And then the White Sox didn't even offer to bring him along to 890.

Well, he won't. Because he's never done it. I mean guys who get these gigs do the minor leagues for a while to get noticed. For the most part. Or go to ESPN 3 to do the crappy college games. Something like that.

He has no experience. So he's not gonna get it.

You'd think with Ed Farmer's body disintegrating, they would have let poor Ranger call a game or two instead of just yelling at every Pat McCrap from Beverly day after day after day after day.

Can't wait until my guy Mick gets called up. They wouldn't give him the spring training gig and keep him in the shadows in AA all these years if they didn't have a plan for him.

Randazzo did a couple of seasons of Kane County while still working per diem at the Score. I think he also did some ESPN 3 college football or college basketball. His experience landed him the pre/post for the Mets, because they needed somebody to fill in on a couple of innings of PBP on days when Howie Rose is doing Islander games or Josh Lewin is doing Chargers games. He proved he was capable enough to be in the booth 10% of the time. A few years with the Mets, and he stands a good chance of either moving up, or picking up a basketball or hockey PBP job of some sort.

Rongey just sat there and was a smug southern Illinois asshole.

Howie Rose retired from the Islanders, which sucks a lot, because that dude straight-up gave no fucks and criticized Gary Bettman like once a game.

Is Randazzo that different from Jordan Bernfield? Randazzo has the announcer's voice and an uncle who is an umpire, but he wasn't exactly a great host on the Score. Randazzo was slightly above the Score producer's replacement level.

I learned to love Coomer during my brief stint with radio listening these playoffs. It was a good booth, all three guys seemed to like each other.

As much as I want the Mets to lose every game, Rose/Lewin are a hell of a lot of fun to listen to on XM on a weekend afternoon. Rose is the last of the give no fucks PBP guys, Lewin is solid, much better than when he was in Chicago decades ago, and understands how to set Howie off for fun if the game slows down.
