Greatest heckle I (or probably anyone in history) ever had was Sox vs Cubs on the south side. I had seats 10 rows back behind first base dugout. Big rain delay, seats empty. Rain stops and people slowly start to come back to their seats but place still pretty empty when play resumes. Grace up to bat, gets hammered by a pitch and goes down hard. Trainer comes out. Finally gets up and starts hobbling his way to first base. As he passes I yell out...

Hey Grace, I bet it hurt worse when Ray Liota screwed your wife!

Because the place was so empty you could hear it pretty much across the entire field. Even the Cubs fans were gasping like damn, that's harsh.

best one i heard was some ppl in/around the wrigley bueller-seats/LF-bleachers giving tony gwynn directions to the nearest kentucky fried chicken (and then i think some copycats started doing up dairy queen or some cookie places).

now that i think about it there could theoretically have been a racism element to this, but at the time (and i obviously had to be an early/earlier-teenager since this was when tony gwynn still played) it totally came off like it was a fat thing > all else.

Rizzo gave the ball to Tom Ricketts. I want to cry. It was beautiful.

I was hoping after he talked about the value of the ball, he would have just thrown the damn thing into the sea of humanity.

Ricketts faked like he was going to do just that. I laughed.

clayton kershaw's 149IP of 1.69 ERA literally and figuratively doesn't count, eh? i think the final tally was kershaw at 149IP of 1.69/0.73 and hendricks had 180IP of 2.13 ERA.... slight difference there (and obviously the postseason is what it is)

If the minimum for starting pitchers is 150 innings, then it doesn't. As they said to Harvey Haddix, tough shit.

i guess that's just like lena dunham being the hottest chick in the world thanks to the minor caveat of being the only chick that you know exists (likely cuz she's standing right in front of you and therefore blocking your view of the rest of the world)

The Chicago first baseman who led his team to the World Series championship. Back when no Chicago team had done that in longer than 11 years

I was there with 4,999,992 other teachers today (or so I'm told - the other 8 were the people I was with that weren't teachers. BUT - stupid teachers for going to this thing).

It was fucking awesome. Well worth the wait. Avoided the madness in Grant Park (learned from past Hawks parade mistakes) and camped out on Addison. Great viewing and celebrations. Kids loved it. Adults appreciated it. Perfect weather. Couldn't have been better.

Congratulations to all the Cubs fans on here!
Yep. All of them.
We've earned this in one way or another. It was a damn roller coaster, but man...this is so sweet. It was worth the wait.

Peace out.

Had to traipse (apologies if this falls under surreal category) from Lake/Wacker area to E. Randolph for 11:30 appt. Fun times. Totally enjoyed the randomness of the fan.
Hispanic family(s)...check
African American group(s) of kids and adults...check
Asian of undetermined nationality...check
Kids with the Jewish beanies...check
family of Shikhs in full WCUB garb...check
white grandparents pushing the grandchild up through the crowd...check

all living in harmony. Twas a fun moment that brought a smile to my face on an otherwise dreary day. It is great when something, whatever it is, brings happiness to such an incredibly wide range of people.

That is why this reminds me of the ending to Bill and Ted's Bogus Journey. When the Wyld Stallyns play that concert and people around the world are tuning in to it and it brings harmony and peace to everyone....that was today.

The "WCUB" thing doesn't make any sense to me when I see it. "WSOX" was a play on the Score -- WSCR -- being biased toward the White Sox, either as their flagship or simply a sports-talker where most of the jocks loved the Sox and hated the Cubs (North, Fred, Mully, Mac, Hood, Boers, Bernstein). What is "WCUB" supposed to mean, exactly? Just "Cubs"? That's stupid.

welp, it's official: sorry mr. reason, but peter puck has now replaced you as my favorite "rare treat" C/S/FMB poster!

seriously, what this guy said about "Go Cubs Go" in 2 concise posts would probably take me ~2300 words to try and express "properly" =D

(bonus points for the HNIC reference)

You really are this stupid right or is this a never ending bit? It means that the flagship station talks more about the flagship team. Jesus Christ you are dumb.

Only three guys on that list are Sox fans and none of them are aggressive. In fact, they are/were always finding the negative in the Sox while seeking the positive in the Cubs.
