Did you feel Americans did that when they elected Bill Clinton twice?

You clearly were considering you voted for him twice. I've never liked Bill and I've made that known for over a decade here.

I'm pretty sure I only voted for him once.

Who else would know??

 That's a long time ago. I know I voted for Perot once. That must have been '92. I'm pretty sure I voted for Clinton in 1996. Shit was rolling pretty good. I didn't want to fuck it up.

Maybe not. Jeb has a son, George P. Bush, who is Land Commissioner in Texas.

The real opportunity here is that people no longer have to be tied to a two party system.

The Dems tried to shove Hillary down our collective throats, while the Republicans wanted nothing to do with Trump. We can put an end to party politics were both parties simply point fingers and place blame.

We will get through the next four years. And I'm sure the media will get back to doing their job now that Hillary has lost.

I think it's important to note that it wasn't just the Dems shoving her down our throat, and the second half of your sentence supports that. The Establishment, Wall Street, the Beltway, the Media, they all supported Clinton. The guy wondering if the plant might close down for good while working part-time on the second shift at the factory because the third shift no longer exists just wasn't having it. And it's not because he hates women or black people.

No one here is saying that it was primarily because people hated women and minorities. I know that you won't stop saying that though.

That guy (well, some of those guys) was also sick of hearing how Bernie had no chance, how the primary was over, how his attacks on HRC were hurting the cause, etc.

But when you have been supportive of a party that has been playing both ends against the middle for years, it becomes a habit hard to walk away from.

People of all races are far worse off today then they were twenty five years ago. The elitist folks in this country don't give a shit about any of us.

Wait--plenty of people are saying that, here and elsewhere.

Elsewhere: They're literally saying it.

Here: "The uneducated bumpkins came out to vote."

That has nothing to do with them being racist or misogynist.

The Republican dog has gone from being wagged by the Moral Majority/Religious Right tail to being wagged by the Alt-Right tail.

The concepts and ideologies of the "Alt-Right" and "SJWs" exist largely on social media. I don't think the average person trying to feed his or her family gives them much thought at all.

It only doesn't matter in the ultimate result of this election. Beyond that I think it does. Part of the narrative is that Trump's America is suddenly meaner, more misogynistic, and more racist. That's as silly as saying racism ended when Obama was elected was.

Trump won with middle class to wealthy whites who see immigration and terrorism as big problems. The dog whistle just put him over the top.

They didn't have to all be alt right. Trump's appeal to the alt right was all he needed to push through the milquetoast-y GOP primaries. He was able to pull a steady 15-20% of committed support which was enough to beat the 17 other candidates splitting the other 80%. He then picked up a little more as each candidate dropped out, while maintaining that 15-20% base. He pressed all the right xenophobic buttons to attract the majority of white men and uneducated white women and. miraculously. nearly split the educated white woman vote. That combined with a strong push by the "Clinton is the Devil" conspiracy theories, Comey, Wikileaks and Hillary being a shrill, unlikeable, cold human being brings us to this ugly place this morning.

Look at that support from evangelicals. Bill Maher is right that they have been exposed as hypocrites of the highest order. A thrice married bigot, who brags about sexually assaulting women, and calling them fat pigs.

Because it is true. I know it is hard for some to admit but racism in this country is real. I'm not going to quantify it because frankly I don't know an exact number or people voting for Trump that happened to be racists. It is stupid to make the attempt. This is what I do know. America just knowingly voted an avowed Racist President. This isn't 1860 America. This is allegedly "change" and "progressive" America.

Frankly it is insulting to black people to insist that they are not witnessing what they are witnessing. Trump laid his cards on the table early also. There were no pretenses either. He also has demonstrated throughout his history that he is such. People were comfortable with that too. The guys that hustle race for a living are going to have a field day with this.

That doesn't even begin to address the fact that he is hopelessly incompetent. He didn't even demonstrate during the campaign that he had the aptitude for the job. I hate to be partisan but the last two Republican Presidents have been Trump and GW. The Book is out on Trump and we will see but he didn't run a stellar campaign and it shouldn't be obscured by the fact that he won.
