I think you have to go Bears. Teams can turn it around in 2 years in the NFL.

2013 Redskins 3-13; 2015 made playoffs
2013 Vikings 5-10; 2015 made playoffs
2012 Lions 4-12; 2014 made playoffs

Yeah...but those teams aren't the Bears. Putrid top to bottom.

Does it have to be while in Chicago or does Vegas count?

This. Parity rules in the NFL. It means teams can become contenders out of nowhere and their rise to the top is then rationalized post-fact. For me it's just the nature of the sport...anyone can put together a good season with some important skill positions filled and no major injuries. Good coaching matters as well of course.

Bears. Sox probably won't make the playoffs again in my lifetime.

Also worth adding, the Bears only have to beat 3 teams to win a division - Sox have to beat 4. I think the Bears have plenty of pieces on offense (minus a quarterback - unfortunately the most important piece) and need to rebuild that defense... either do it with better run D/pass rush or bolster your secondary, but one or the other. The Bears could easily be 11-5 in 2018 and win the division. Of course, they could be 5-11 also. :)

Bears.

They already have a top ten D within two years. Offense will catch up once it becomes relieved of Cutler

Top ten?

In all honesty, the Sox are more likely to over achieve over the next season or two, win 88 games and get into the Wild Card game. I know turn arounds can happen quick in the NFL, and there does seem to be some pieces in place on the Bears defense, but it seems like they are at least 3 years and another head coach away from being a 10 win team.

I think the thing about the parity mechanisms of the NFL is that once you've missed, say, six years in a row, as the Bears will this year, you enter a place where the bad decisions have started to snowball and it becomes likelier to keep missing the playoffs than it is to make them again. They could be looking at a Bills/Rams run of extended futility, probably two or three more misses before they get back in.

I actually have to agree with Frank on this one.

Yeah the story of the Bears D under Cutler is they're on the field at least 10 minutes more than the opposing D per game in large part because of TOs and shitty 3 and outs. I mean the D has been bad at takeaways and 3rd down stops so I don't want to give them the Cutler bad play pass, but the offense is killing them.
