that was my conclusion based on a conversation at a remote. He said something along the lines of what he did yesterday but framed it as a personal conversation where Phillips said he had no involvement. Didn't take much reading between the lines to determine they at least have an acquaintanceship.

They'd be smart investing upwards of a billion dollars for things like their own stadium (i.e. control all the revenues) and hiring the absolute best front office with no cost spared. The value of the franchise would be just like what happened with the Cubs and Hawks after they won and become marketable. The old lady dies, and the family sells a majority stake in the team. The value of team would double, at least.

Besides, you finance the stadium with debt and make the new owners assume the debt.
