I think you're way off in questioning Shapiro's principles.

My politics aren't in line with Shapiro's, and he's a whiny little bastard, but there's no legitimate reason to ban him from a campus other than pure anti-intellectualism/censorship. And whatever you want to say about Shapiro, I've never heard him make an illogical argument and he's a man of conviction who quit Breitbart rather than take up its editorial stance in supporting Trump.

The UK is in a weird spot with that. As a member of the EU, they had to let in any EU immigrants. Plus with the Commonwealth, they tend to let in all those folks.

I don't view immigration as inherently negative. It certainly causes some pain with the assimilation process, but all the studies show it is a net positive.

I am more than a little concerned that there is not only a generation of people who think supporting a candidate they do not is considered hate speech and should not be allowed, but that their claims are being supported by college administrators.

These are also the same people who accuse those they try and silence of being fascists.

At this point, if you go to college you can assume that I hate you.

The only minor difference is the entire run-off election thing. No doubt she will make it into the second round. But at that point, the left voters combine with the right to keep the National Front out of power. That is what happened to her father. She still may win, but most people put her national support in the mid-30% area. It is expected she will be up against a yet to be determined right leaning candidate.

It is also looking like Renzi's government is going to fall when their referendum comes up. Then the Five Star movement may take hold in Italy too.
