No. You're overcompensating. Whereas most people are biased one way or the other, you seem to draw false equivalencies in the spirit of being "objective." IMO, you aren't being objective... you are going so far the other way, that you don't realize you're grasping at the other extreme.

Whether Conservatives like to admit it or not, Stewart very frequently hammered the left, even if it was less than he hammered the right. The main target of his sketches was the mainstream Liberal media that you are poking at. While I would call Stewart "liberal," one of his central messages was that normal people in America aren't political activists... they just live their lives while people on both extremes drive all the political activism.

You know how Rush Limbaugh is, and if you think the above description is comparable, we'll have to disagree.

Stewart tried to put on a face of objectivity to cover his clear hard partisanship and he became a spokesman for a generation, as opposed to Limbaugh who is a clownish radio entertainer who appeals only to goofs who already have the crazy ideas he spews. Nobody sees Limbaugh or Hannity as journalists, but I know MANY people between 20 and 40 who get their news from The Daily Show. And again, when I say "nobody" that means nobody I know. If I lived in Humboldt, Iowa it might be different.

Your last sentence pretty much negates what you said, though. You know.00000000000001% of the U.S. population. I can promise you there are millions of people who think the word of Hannity and Limbaugh is gospel. They don't think they are journalists... they think they are more than that... they think they are speaking truth to power that the journalists won't report.

But we're talking about media bias. All you have to do is look at the electoral map. The media centers are all blue.

I have no problem with "fake news". If every Millennial thinks The Daily Show is journalism and votes accordingly, we get what we deserve. It's the so-called liberals who are railing against "fake news". I'm certain they wouldn't be if Clinton had won. But here's the thing. They're not censoring fake news on the major social media platforms. They're only censoring the fake news (and certain viewpoints) that they don't like. It's anything but even-handed. Milo is banned from Twitter but there are a bunch of Imams that use the platform to call for death to apostates. That's fucked up.

Now, you and I can sit here and say, "Goddamn hillbillies are too fucking dumb to recognize fake news. We smart liberals get The Onion. We're educated and understand parody. These rednecks need protection! Zuckerberg and Jack need to protect them from their own stupidity." But that's exactly the kind of elitist bullshit that got us Trump in the first place.

I haven't paid any attention to this whole fake news thing, but I did hear it mentioned a couple times. Shame on anyone who even has the gall to say "fake news." There's no such thing.

But I will disagree with you that somehow "The Daily Show" ruined Millenials. I know that there are many Millenial traits that you dislike, and so do I. But it's unfair to paint them as zombies who worship Jon Stewart. You're making the same kind of generalizations that you are admonishing "elites" for making about "hillbillies."

Also, if you don't think that "The Daily Show" revealed a great amount of truth about the media, I strongly disagree. Did Stewart have an easy job relative to "real" media? Sure... in some regards, he got to have it both ways. But, really, who cares? He comically revealed the complete absurdity of mainstream media... something which everyone on the Right preaches incessantly. To reduce what he did to "fake" news is only true if one is willing to admit that every single bit of mainstream media we consume is fake news. CNN, MSNBC, Fox, the NYT, etc. are all basically parodies of the type of news we once received. I have a hard time going after a guy who basically sought to show in a comedic way how ridiculous they are. He was an effect, not a cause.

There are Millennial traits I admire too. Every generation has its positives and negatives.

But to the original discussion, I think it's just so patently obvious where the bias lies. It's encapsulated in a beautiful young woman "playing" Clinton (more ridiculous than the young hottie who plays Lt. Joe Kenda  ) and singing "Hallelujah". Just look at the spin that is getting put on Trump's transition. The media is acting as if something is wrong because he hasn't appointed his cabinet in the first week. It's absurd. And here I think LTG is correct in that the bias is specifically against - or at least amplified because of- Trump. In the past, I've never even been aware of how long it took to assemble a cabinet.

I didn't even read past Joe Kenda's actor. I would let that guy be my sugar daddy all day every day and twice on Sunday. Now, the real Joe Kenda seems like a conceded douche, but I'll be goddamned if I wouldn't want that egomaniac investigating my family's murder. Kenda got results, even if he is completely insufferable.

Your refusal to acknowledge the significance of the Birther issue and your inattentiveness to anything Trump lumps you in with this bunch. However as "Never Trumpers" go you are low hanging fruit. There is a certain hierarchy to the list. Some of the Never Trumpers have been defending or ignoring Trump as far back as early primary season. They always preface by stating their dislike for him but they invariably defend him at every turn. It was simply time to out this cast of merry men (and woman) before their secret love of Trump went any further.

Dont worry about it Darko. As never Trumpers go you're merely taxi squad.

I'm not sure what you want from me.
I think the birther issue is one of the stupidest things I've ever heard. I don't understand why it became an issue, how it continued to be an issue or why anyone is bothering to talk about it now. As far as I knew it's been long settled.
I don't defend anything about the birther issue. It's all quite stupid and pointless.
What more can I possibly say about something so incredibly silly?

In this case it really isn't about the birther issue per se. It is about Trumps base of support. That was the central point.

There absolutely is "fake news". It's constantly spread over the Internet.

But people don't need to be protected from it.

Let me rephrase. The actual "news" that people in our country consume is so bad that it's hard to tell the difference, and it certainly doesn't warrant the outrage that "real" news should.

Disagree with the first part. This stuff isn't even news. It is click bait to some whack job blog.

Agree with the second part.

I'm just saying for as bad as regular news is, to compare it to that dreck is not fair.

Stupidity is the number one issue facing Americans today.

Some are too stupid to know they're stupid.

Dreck?

It's the same shit, in the same click bait ad placements as the "I tried Blue Apron...here's what happened next" or "The wedding photographer didn't think he'd capture this!" Of course I'm sure the click bait content creators weren't giving debate questions to Hillary Clinton or putting out anti-Bernie Sanders propaganda or getting weekly talking points from Media Matters and the DNC. But whatever. FAKE NEWS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Those stupid click bait things are just that, click bait, just like the other crap. It's now just being put to the forefront to make excuses for the election and to start to push the Progressive Marxist information control and censorship plan...the same one the sitting President has been hinting at.

This didn't just pop up. It's not an accident.

This is one hell of a bad thread. Donald Trump is President-elect. Media had nothing to do with it other than allowing dumbasses to be swayed by their coverage and bias of the election. Who watches the shitty cable political outlets anyway?

This self-made boy from a town of 200 in central Illinois doesn't need an elitist wine drinker from the North Shore telling him that lower class white people need to be taken seriously. If you are going to play that card, then you need to come out from under your "diverse" urban rock that purposefully separates you from the white working class and see what they need. It's easy to spout generalities about how we should support the white working class while you're going to your art festivals and faggy musicals while dining on oysters and hipster urban fare. Let me know when you go and eat 4 dollar tenderloins and fried mushrooms with the disenfranchised whites while you hand fish for channel cats that will feed your family. Then maybe you can preach from your ivory tower in your urban utopia.

This is one hell of a bad thread. Donald Trump is President-elect. Media had nothing to do with it other than allowing dumbasses to be swayed by their coverage and bias of the election. Who watches the shitty cable political outlets anyway?

If I had to guess... probably you.

I wouldn't disagree, but MANY would accuse you of elitism for saying that. You just don't understand the mindset of regular folks.

I love tenderloins and disenfranchised whites. First beer is on me at Sidetrax in Galesburg!
