Played pretty well! Might not have to draft a QB now.

It's crazy how almost every QB we spot start now, for better or worse, we really don't know the difference vs Jay Cutler.

We would be excoriating cutler if they lost by six and he threw two picks in the red zone

Didn't watch a snap but sounds like the receivers didn't quite do their job either.

And yes, GD, we would because Jay was the supposed "franchise QB".

Yeah he's certainly made things interesting for the free-falling Packers' QB situation next year!

Irrelevant. The original post was that the bear would not need to draft a qb because of what Barkley did today

Same bullshit on the chicitysports board. One fucking half of football and morons are stating we should bypass drafting a qb entirely.

He looked better than I thought he would, tons of drops on pretty decent thrown balls..add him to the list with Mccown and Hoyer as Jays backups that outperform him with little reps to prepare.

Exactly! Of course tomorrow "the experts" will giggle about him and say we have a better chance to win with Jay. There is always a reason why Bear backup QB's look better than Cutler. Been hearing it for 7 years.

Wasn't this Barkley's first NFL appearance?

We're comparing a ~10 year veteran's decision making to a red-shirted rookie?

Barkley's been in the league for years now. He's not a red shirt rookie. I agree with your premise though. They shouldn't have anywhere near similar expectations.

Henry Burris is currently playing in the Grey Cup.

Perhaps we can sign him when the he finishes tonight.

Barkley's biggeest mistake was going back to USC for that last season. He went from first round to fourth round after playing an extra season in college.

We really wont know until Mar/Apr where draft stocks have these guys slotted, but you look around and there are scouts saying Watson is as low as a 3rd rounder. If you really think you can get DeShaun Watson at #67-70, which I think is highly unlikely in a post-Dak world, you do it every time. A guy like that who won and put up the numbers with those leadership skills...I think he's ultimately worth it at #2 overall.

But start entertaining alternate possibilities where Watson is almost definitely available in the 3rd and the Bears could really attack some glaring weaknesses elsewhere in rounds 1 and 2. Whether internally, via FA (this regime has good pro scouting so far) or from the draft the Bears need to fill massive holes at both starting CB spots, safety (who can cover), 5T and OT. If they can get away with drafting Jonathan Allen, a CB or OT in R2 and a QB in R3 that they feel good about....man that's the way to go. Way better than drafting Bortles II or that piece of shit Kizer from ND.
