Has his team hold every single Benglas player rushing to block the punt for 11 seconds as the clock runs out. Punter steps out of bounds as time expires. The safety nulifies the holding penalties. Game over.

I've seen this done before. No down side. It's just common sense. If teams don't do it in this situation it makes you question why the coach is stupid.

There's another trick that some coaches should do more. When the ball is 1st and goal at the half yard line, tell your players to guess the snap count. Jump offsides, so what? Half the distance doesn't mean much at that point. Keep on doing it. Eventually, they won't be able to move the ball closer to the goal line. Half the distance only can go so far after so many penalties.

In the last seconds of a game, when the team on offense is trailing, why doesn't the defense just tackle every receiver before the QB throws the ball? A few seconds of clock get killed, and the offense only gains five yards.

That's good too. Cuz it's only 5 yards for defensive holding. Which is what that would be.

Problem with that is what if the WR slips you at the line of scrimmage when you're trying to tackle him. You're on the ground and he's streaking to the endzone. It's can backfire in that regard.

Referees can award a touchdown at their discretion in a situation like that.

But the half or game can't end on a defensive penalty. So they would have to eventually play one straight.

I've never heard that. I don't think it's true. That doesn't make sense.

Yeah. But if you do it a couple of times and take off time, it might be worth it. Depending on where the ball is. I'd rather give up 5 yards for 10 seconds in certain situations.

But it is risky like I said. The WR could still slip you if you're trying to grab him. Then it's trouble.

You can keep two safeties deep.

Did your research for you, Beardown. Took about 18 seconds. Google NFL Palpably Unfair Act. You're welcome.

Fine. Let them throw a hail mary with a few seconds left.

How many times do you see this situation and the defense plays prevent defense? They give the offense the short stuff, and they move right down the field.

Thanks. I googled that phrase exactly. On my lap top all findings came back saying "Favrefan is a dumb ass". I found that weird. But that's what happened. No joke. The Internet is different for everybody. That's the lesson we learned today. My google results may not be your google results.

It's an easy call, I didn't understand why the Fenwick coach didn't do that but then I learned that HS has slightly different rules about safeties.

The safety rule could be changed to still give the defense a last gasp.
1. The half or the game cannot end on a safety.
2. If a safety occurs in the last minute of the half, the defensive team has the option of taking the ball at their own 40 yard line instead of the free kick.

That would have allowed the Bengals a Hail Mary, or would have forced the Ravens' punter to stay out of the end zone and avoid the safety.

And people ask why interest in the NFL is down.
