Jay Cutler makes 17 million this year.

Irrelevant. The original post was that the bear would not need to draft a qb because of what Barkley did today

Wasn't this Barkley's first NFL appearance?

We're comparing a ~10 year veteran's decision making to a red-shirted rookie?

No, we are not. We are comparing him to a pick in the 2017 draft

No we would blame everyone else instead.

Jay Cutler gets no blame in this town and the Cubs do not get enough media attention.

Marcus Mariotta looked great yesterday. He had pinpoint accuracy on deep throws that I didn't know he had. Meanwhile, he is doing it with average WR. He will be a star next year.

I thought the knock on Barkley was a noodle arm. I thought it looked pretty strong yesterday

Barkley was one of the biggest high school recruits in the last decade. Never thought his arm was in question. More the decision making. Glad he is getting a look. Hope he shows something because the offense is a total cesspool. Jordan Howard can't be a feature back if he can't catch the ball.

Now the meathead Chicago media thinks Jimmy Garoppolo is the answer.According to Haugh "Before the draft arrives, the Bears need to exhaust every option to acquire Patriots backup quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo, an Arlington Heights native with enough talent and charisma to reinvigorate a sleepy organization. That should be Plan A. No other plans sound better — or have worked." He is a 2016 version of Matt Cassel........plus when I think charismatic Jimmy pops into mind. Give Pace a damn chance.....and remember the Chicago meathead media kept telling us Mark Trestman coached Rich Gannon to a Pro Bowl  which didn't have a damn thing to do with him being a head coach. Cub fans gave Theo time ,Bear fans do the same for Pace.

No one is saying the Bears should not draft a QB.

We're just shitting on Cutler.

Patriots wont do it for anything less than a top 50 pick, and the Bears can draft a better QB than Jimmy Garoppolo inside the top 50. Also, doesn't Garappolo only have one more year before free agency? So that gets rid of that 2-3 year window where the Bears could find themselves with a good QB and the salary cap space to keep a few guys and/or acquire a couple free agents. Kind of like Oakland who took themselves to the next level by adding Smith, Irvin and Crabtree because Carr is a still a bargain.

The original post was precisely about Bears not drafting a QB, irrespective of the poster's intentions.

Two things:

1) Have you not known a thread to take a turn?

2) The OP was already declared sarcasm...though it seems the declaration was only needed for you.

Holy cow...he threw 33 passes in the 4th quarter alone? That has to be close to a record.

Barkley has given us all a reason to watch these remaining games. He looked like a "gunslinger" out there, almost Favre or Fouts-esque, heaving the rock down-field all the time.

The Rosenbloom piece yesterday was completely unfair. Yes, he threw two red zone INTs in his first NFL start. But what about the 4th quarter comeback? He put the team in a position to win more than once. What about all the completions he would have had if the receivers had not been completely inept?

If Romo wants to come to Chicago, I would take him. Have Barkley as the back-up. But I would also be ok if Barkley was the starter going forward. If he plays well again next game, people will be saying, "Jay who?".

Kudos to Loggains for his play-calling, too.

The first INT was a 50/50 ball that the receiver could have caught.

No he hasn't. This team is terrible and nearly impossible to watch. I would rather get a spray tan.

He made some nice throws, but you cannot ignore the fact that MANY of those were against a prevent defense and a corner back who was cut after the game. If the Bears WRs had not been "ept" they would have screwed themselves on draft position.

Barkely, Romo, Cutler...whoever the starter is should simply be a place holder for the QB they draft, or possibly Connor Shaw if they feel he is the QB of the future. Start the first few games until the next QB is ready, and then Barkley/Cutler/Romo holds a clip board for the rest of the season, as none of those guys are going to win a playoff games while on the Bears.

If your TV repairman destroys the two TVs he was supposed to fix, then to make up for it replaces those TVs with nearly identical models and walks out, are you happy with the service he provided?

if that's the first time he's ever tried to fix a TV, I'd be pretty impressed.

I would trade the Bears first rounder for Jimmy Garoppolo in a heartbeat.

Hub Arkush said on the radio last week that Garoppolo would cost two 1st round picks and more.

Where does the truth lie?

Liking what I see from Barkley again. No problem bringing him back next year for more of a look.

He looks like a very capable backup.

I think this game is a case of the 49ers being really, really bad more than it is Barkley being this good.

Yeah, the 49ers are really fucking bad. If the Browns & 9ers played eachother, I would bet on the Browns.

Little egg on your face, Frank?

The Bears have their quarterback now in Barkley. If you want to get Romo, too, fine.

Even if San Fran is bad, Barkley was still throwing a lot of accurate passes in the worst of conditions yesterday, even downfield. He's the most talent at the position I have seen in a long time on a Bears roster.

Don't need to waste that 1st round pick on a QB now. You still need receivers and a right guard, since Long can't play more than two games in a row without getting hurt.

No.

The 49ers suck. I think they are worse than their 1-11 record. Barkley did nothing in the first ~12minutes of this game.

Barkley is a capeable backup who should be in camp.with the Bears next year. Nothing more. The Bears dont necessarily have to use thier first pick on a QB, but they must draft at least 1.

Jay Cutler is more talnted than Barkley. That is a fact.

Almost everything you posted is wrong.
