Says his illness had nothing to do with this decision to retire. Wants to make that clear. Said he made the decision in May. Said he doesn't know what the future holds regarding his illness. Has lots of Doctor appointments. Says he can't predict what will happen with him. Said he wanted it to be 25 years of radio. He's choking up. He's crying. He thanked Bernstein. He's scared. Guess he's not out of the woods. I think I heard Bernstein crying in the background. Wow.

He wrote a column about it. It's now up at 670thescore.com.

I feel bad for him.

I don't think we need another thread ... the other one's doing just fine.

Why would you feel bad for him?

goddamn, hearing him break down into tears.... man. that's just awful. godspeed terry! jan5th is definitely appointment radio.

bourbonnais 09 i did a b&b remote there and they had their backdrop so one commercial (when goof (tic, or typo is correct) wasn't coming up to me and bugging me like SUP?! -3-4 times til i went and got a freestyle rap cd of mine from the car thinking he was a fan so give him that and maybe he'd fuck off) --- i go up to terry like "hey dude, carlin died on me last year when i had tickets to see him and i'm not letting you do the same" so i got a picture with him. i'll have to see if ic an dig up the original cuz i kind of hate my face sometimes and i edited out my face to a yellow =) face saying OLD with the L a nose becoming an arrow pointing at terry, i think it kinda freaked out his kid on twitter once.... bit i digress)

that mini-story means to show that terry was the radio hero out of the two of them. b&b was appointment radio for me for years, and really while dan was far more entertaining when he embraced being "bad gay and weird" and all that b4 deciding to take bold stances against child rape and brain damage and things, terry was always that dude... and you know, that's why i'll always remember getting that picture with him. us standing there in front of the score wallpaper talking shit about everything the whole time it was going on. it was a genuine thing, and he was a genuine dude.... and if they ever invent time travel i wanna go back to some chicago stadium bulls game in 1983 and get plowed with him afterwards a man could tream, can he?

All bullshit aside -sucks to hear. Just listened to him tearing up on the ride home announcing it. Legit one of my all time favorites to listen to, missed hearing him and his odd ball commentary these past few months and it's official at this point that he's done in a couple months.

Cheers TB, it's been fun

Also, surprised he didn't at least manage a tearful shoutout to the Bob's

I'm veery, veery happy for Jason. Jason's my boy, and in a lot of ways, he's like a brother to me. You know, we're like a femily here at the Score, I mean, you all know about Uncle Teary, but in a way, Dan is my dad, and he's Jason's dad, too. And the way I think I about it is we're inheriting the femily business from Uncle Teary, and now it's gonna be Bernstein & Son, but you need one son to take over the business and a second son to beeld on the business and expand the business into other areas. And I think that's what my job is now, I'm not just taking over the store, I'm using my lessons I leerned from the store and starting my own store.

So yeah, hey buddy. One post return before going back on a Boers-ian permalurk.

Been listening to WSCR since I was a sophomore in high school in 2001. Boers was a huge part of that. Hard to listen to him get so emotional, even if it was kind of obvious he was going to break down a bit. Wish him the best in retirement and hope between now and his farewell show that a few more laughs and good times can be had.

I would have never thought I would say this but he appears to be the best option. He's a nerdy bootlicker but at least he is professional and not a dick.

LoHo would make it really unlistenable. And Boers' line about how the future of the station is secure with all of the young talent... Perfect for WYC.

 That's a little too real. Leery would be proud.
