We didn't buy all that shit. My much older brother would just buy a bunch of the gaming systems (PS2, PS3) when they were released, and then I'd sell them to the rich kids from Deerfield who lived in my dorm. Money was no object to them. I don't remember which system did best, but I do remember seeing those fucks pull out rolls of 100's as college students and thinking "Wow, I'm fucking poor, and I'm gonna take this asshole for all he's worth."

100 years ago I made a very tidy profit on selling my pre-order PS2 on eBay ... about triple what I paid for it iirc ... all I had to do was wait I think a couple months and then had my own plus the extra $. I hadn't bought it to sell it, but watching what they were selling for, I'd have to have been nuts yarrrrr to not have sold it.

I worked at Kay-Bee Toy Works in Orland Park (not the one in the mall) as a youth and young college student home for the holidays....I was there, ground zero, for all this crap. Tickle Me Elmo, Furbee's, Dreamcast, PS2 and the Pokeman movement. Parents were nuts, especially during Black Friday. Always had this guy, Mike I blieve his name was, skulking about the store always asking if we had any "in the back" and all that...he would buy them and then go out and sell them in the parking lot. Nice guy, great capitalist! All toys were just junk, the Furbee didn't really do anything.
