8th grade daughter went up for a layup and collided with a girl from the other team. Her knee came down awkwardly and she could not put any weight on it. Schools athletic trainer examined her and said it was a pretty bad LCL sprain and the ACL felt good. A few days later he reexamined her and the swelling was gone. He did not like what he felt with her ACL. Said it was loose and we needed to go see a specialist. Hoping it is not an ACL tear....but fearing it is.

Oh man that sucks. I tore mine in high school and it really sucked. Usually the test where they stabilize the thigh with the knee bent at 90 degrees and try to pull the lower leg forward will tell you exactly whats going on. If he tested both legs and one had a ton of laxity in it then the acl is probably gone. You kinda know its gone too.... I tore my mcl and it just hurt....when i tore my acl/mcl i felt the acl explode. I thought I broke my leg. The only upside is the rehab process is a great for goal setting/achievement lessons....at least I learned a ton from it.
