Hopefully Thibs troubles last at least one more game. Bulls should put 120 points on the board tonight.

Can we talk about Thibs tonight, or would that still be the "psychotic" thing to do?

The Thibs talk is much more of a pushback against those who argued and still argue that the Bull were insane to move on from him. The Timberwolves are just a byproduct of the discussion. Even if he were coaching the Albany Patroons we should still be having a conversation about his time as HC for the Bull as it directly caused the present.

And we need to talk more sports on this board.

I agree with the more sports talk part.

I agree it was time to move on from him. I don't equate that with him being overrated.

Agreed on all fronts. Can't be acceptable only when GarPax/Hoiberg bashing are the topic dujour. Was also acceptable when newly minted "love of Timberwolves" coins happened to be created. That being the case then it must also be acceptable when he is falling flat on his ass.

As a Bulls fan I can't say this. The Wolves are better positioned for the future than the Bulls though.

Tom Thibodeau won't stand for any roadblocks as coach and president. The state of the franchise is certainly not what he wanted 2 months into his first season...but Tom Thibodeau eats challenges and shits out success. He will properly identify and utilize the building blocks like KAT while obtaining players that fit a winning pedigree.

It's very unlikely that this core stays in Minnesota for a decade. They might. Usually small market teams have a 5-6 year window to take their shot. Sacramento, OK City, etc.

If they miss out on that, it'll likely be a long time. Wade is gonna bring some good free agents to Chicago. That's why he's here.

Wade helps the Bulls image with star players.

Wade is only here for two years guaranteed. He came here because it is his hometown. He is hardly making this a destination. Two of the Bulls' three best players are on the downside of their careers. Portis and Valentine might be future D-League all-stars. There is nothing here.

Who cares about the Wolves' core in 10 years? This team is a contender by the 2018-19 season.

Butler and Taj are great... but they aren't going to carry Hoiberg, a couple old guys, and a team full of 9th men to a title.

Of course not. But you get another superstar here and you're a contender overnight. Wade will help with that. Who knows if the T Wolves will be ever be a contender. KAT, Wiggins, and Lavine are a good core to build around but it's still going to be very tough to win a title with that and by 2020 all or some of those guys could be gone.

Bottom line is neither one is close to being a title contender right now so of course it's smarter to take the much bigger market and the team with the best current player (Butler) between the two teams. It's possible Minnesota doesn't win a title in the next 30 years. The Bulls almost certainly will.

Thoughts?

Not right now. Id rather have him going forward because of age and potential.

I'm not sure that Butler is even the best on the Bulls. I'm a lot more comfortable with Wade having the Ball during the 4th quarter. Butler struggles to get his own shot too often to be a No. 1 guy. I know about the whole "2 way" thing but it's obvious watching them that Wade is the better creator.

Have to give the guy credit in at least one regard.

He recognized very early on that Noah's role needed to be greatly reduced in order to move forward. And as much as it pained me (I'll always love the Bull's career of Joakim) and others, he was 100% correct.

Butler is better than Wade in almost every category. He's easily the Bulls best player and yes obviously his defense can't be discounted.

Yeah I am a Noah guy too but it was time. He isn't giving the Knicks much. Being paid a nice dime also.

Hell of a start. I don't know how you can watch these games and say Wade is better or does more night to night than Butler.

Hats off to him for securing that contract, but damn has he fallen off a cliff.

As for Lopez, I never in my wildest dreams saw him contributing anything on the offensive end but he sure as hell has. It's crazy that the Knicks let him go considering he's exactly what they need right now.
