I might try to convince mr Spaulding to take us on a quick nye trip this weekend. If I can find a cheap package maybe Vegas? I don't know what else would be good. We can't really swim or ski and I'm pretty depressed. Anybody got an idea?

Memphis is a good trip for a day or two and no longer than that and it is on the edge of driving range.

Flights this close to NYE are probably going to be expensive to any tourist destination.

I'm looking there, Nashville, and Savannah for now. I just don't know, mr might not go for any of it.

Savannah is awesome. We went last year around this time and will hit it again this year for a night on the way back to Atlanta. You'd want to stay in the historic district though which could be pricy on NYE.

Flights are too expensive for a NYE trip. Drive.

I suggest Chicago. Excellent city. MANY attractions. MANY suburbanites should leave their cocoon and explore this mythical city.

Yes, There is touristy stuff around the alamo/riverwalk area, the zoo is nice. They have a sea world. Oh and it's 70 degrees right now.

NW Indiana is nice this time of year. You can tour the steel mills and play at a casino. Then maybe drive past Mac's place as the cherry on top of the sundae

the money spent on airfare could be utilized to upgrade to a nicer hotel room downtown. there is also the 1 hour into the city versus time spent in getting to the airport/flight/drive to hotel.

people take Chicago for granted.

San Diego.... one seat shows $295, don't know if there's enough for every seat to be $295 though. You may need to split your reservation up with one adult and one kid at a cheaper price, and then one adult and one kid at a more expensive price. Realize that you're probably looking at a bunch of middle seats.

Bringing kids I see, why not the Dells? Indoor water parks and fairly cheap this time a year.

That's in Elkhart not NWI.

If you want a HOF in NWI, you have to wait a bit. Whiting is building the Mascot HOF.

Vegas isn't cheap this weekend.

True. Kalahari or Great Wolf Lodge have great indoor parks.

My son is having seizures and he's not suppose to swim, bike, ski, etc.

I like Kirkwood's idea. Take the money you would use on airfare and live it up in a nice hotel in Chicago. Pretend to be a tourist for a weekend.

We do that occasionally. Mr has lots of Marriott points. I kind of need something other than Chicago. I'm having a hard time.

Was at the Kalahari a few weeks ago...the wife convinced me to go on one slide and I thought I was going to die...I don't really like riding the wall in an intertube and being able to see the wall end in front of me.

But yeah, everyone else had a really good time, so it would be fun for the kids.

Half joking/half serious:
Hershey, PA. Hersheypark is open for holiday season, Chocolate world has a lot of interesting things to do (free to get in), Zooamerica is a zoo. All three are right next to each other. Plus, I believe on NYE they drop a giant Hershey Kiss.

West coast of Florida is unseasonably warm right now. If you are depressed maybe some sun and warm temps would help?
