Brandon Bridge.

At first I was thinking Jerry Lovelocke.

Allen kind of reminds me of that huge armed, mobile and big QB from South Alabama from a couple of years ago that couldn't hit the broad side of a barn. He just so looked the part that you (by you I mean Dr. Ken and I) wished you could will him to be good.

He's intriguing, he might even be worth the roll of the dice with a 2nd round pick and let him marinate being a veteran QB for a couple of years. It's tough to sell that as a 1st round pick, let alone top 5.

Fuck Phil Emery for not taking Jimmy G instead of Ego Ferguson.

I just looked him up. He's playing for Saskatchewan. He really lit up the 2 games he played.

We could still be proven right.

Get him with a good QB coach for a couple of years and maybe you have something. He can't be a day 1 or year 1 starter. He would get eaten alive. He couldn't even be the backup on your team. You would have to just hide him on the roster with no playing time with some great mentor teaching him about the world.

There are better QB prospects to play the draft and stash game with the 2nd round pick.

Agreed, which is why I think Matt Miller is such a doofus for mentioning this name in the first round.

I heard a 2nd and 5th for Garoppolo.

I would do that. Get him signed and draft Hooker or Jonathan Allen. I'd go with Hooker.

I reserve the right to change my mind multiple times.

As a comparison, kizer gets ragged on for 58%. (Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky and Watson are in the high 60s. Mayfield is in the 70s

Matt Miller is remarkably unintelligent. I wouldn't rely on his analysis matching that of nfl scouts

That's true of analysts in any sport. I met one of these guys at an event a couple years ago. He sent me all of his reports for the 2014 and 2015 drafts. I didn't care too much about that but he also sent me a list of scouting terms he compiled that is pretty cool. There has to be over 1000 terms both positive and negative for every position. I'd send it to you but I'm afraid you'll spontaneously combust while reading it.

I am still a no if it is anything more than this and he must sign reasonably.

Please no trading these high slotted picks. None of them. For all we know the Bears could fuck around and run off another 5 years of 8-8/7-9 seasons. You have to stockpile talent with the 3rd pick in every round. It's pretty obvious the lack of depth, and playmakers are the biggest issues.

Trading away a top 35 pick for someone with 90 pass attempts is not a good idea imo.

I would be down for that. As long as it is not your #1 I am fine with it if they think he can be the QB of the future.

Really if the Bears wanted Garraoppollo they should have drafted him. I haven't seen much to make me crave his spot on my team.

Garappolo is the next Cassell. They look good within the Patriots system, but they suck otherwise. Don't trade for that guy. He will be a free agent after next season. The Bears aren't winning the Super Bowl next year.

Keep the picks. If they can't find a QB in the draft, possibly sign him the following offseason.

People seem to be down on Watson but I really like the guy and would be very please with him in the second round. He seems like a smart QB whose turnovers are caused by him attempting to make incredible plays in college. I think will tone it down in the pros.

His numbers will be off the charts at the combine, if he actually fully participates. I have been watching him closely since he was splitting time with that ham and egger senior at Clemson and his talent jumped out.

I don't think Jimmy G is Matt Cassell. I did watch him a lot in college, with him growing up in our backyards of Illinois. I may be biased a bit, though I'm not really a fan of EIU or anything, I just remember from the first time I saw him play, I loved his arm.

His YouTube highlights are pretty sick. He's got a little Ed Reed to his game.

My follow up question is would you take him over Jabril Peppers?

They are different kinds of players.

You could create an entirely different position around Peppers. I'm confident Fangio would use him correctly. However, I'd prefer Hooker

That's what I was wondering. If Peppers versatility/rover potential works better with Fangio's scheme.

Tough decision.

I am returning to coaching this year. I may need those phrases for successfully interacting with parents

I wouldn't limit Peppers to being an "in the box" safety as he has full coverage skills. However, he can be some kind of transformational type safety linebacker, like a reverse Urlacher. Peppers does have CB level coverage skills though and I would love to have him as well

Yes, rover potential.

Who knows if Fangio is even around after next season? Let's take the guy that doesn't have to be "used" correctly with the #3 pick. If you're taking a guy at #3, you shouldn't need some wizard to unlock his potential. His value should be there in any system.

I don't think you need a wizard to unlock Peppers' potential. He's ready made day 1.
