How else are these kids going to learn how to turn on a 95mph heater?

With a pitcher practicing by throwing to an actual catcher. dolphin excluded.

I was catching for pitchers, not batting practice.

I don't like the bucket as that establishes a high strike zone even for an adult.

Boy, I remember those days, or nights, actually. Basketball practice after school, then stay in the gym to catch the boys for a few tosses. Those tile-clad grade school gym floors don't take much speed off of the pitches "in the dirt". I think my oldest was 10 or 11 when he was throwing so hard I couldn't trust myself without a cup and shin guards...that bucket would have been just the thing!

Just put a screen in front of you then you don't have to worry about balls in the dirt.

Those days are in the rear view mirror for me now, my youngest is a senior in high school, and she gave up all sports after her sophomore year to concentrate on her studies. The boys still let the old man play golf with them now and then, at least I can hold my own there, well, with one of them. Torn rotator cuff from work makes it hurt to hit the driver.

It was 13 for me, one last session catching a lefty teammate of my son with a variety of arm slots (for awhile) that stopped me. They thought it was hilarious.

I kinda miss those days sometimes...

Our puppy has finally grown up a bit and it became quite obvious that she is not the beagle the shelter thought she is. She is a Rhodesian Ridgeback. So I, of course, made the comment amongst my group of friends and wife, "I feel bad for her being a African dog growing up in Trump's America." My wife is now pissed at me for embarrassing her. I thought it was funny. People don't have any sense of humor.

Would have thought a Rhodesian Ridgeback would have been pretty clear to spot. Well, that and it looks nothing like a beagle.
How is it having one? Before I got my last dog I had it narrowed down to three breeds and that was one of them. I have heard they can
be a bit hard headed and a little tough to train.

The stream of WSCR on two different players sporadically turning off for no good reason.

It happened at 6am. Insurance isn't paying the claim because they said the police report said he had a .96 BAC.

96 is the police code for "no test was necessary". Pretty sure .96 would have killed him - even considering his gene pool.

They still haven't cleared this thing up yet. Every time I call the guy he keeps saying things like "well, if he's been cleared of the DUI...".

Hey, dumbass, no 16 year-old gets "cleared of a DUI". It's not a DUI!

I told him I don't even care about getting the claim paid. I just want correspondence to stop with stuff like "this claim was in violation of our substance abuse provisions". He doesn't need that crap floating around out there like it is legit.

If he can be conscious with a .96 BAC, he doesn't need school. He could support himself with just winning bar bets on how much he can drink.

Rhodesian Ridgebacks are awesome dogs, but you better know what the hell you're doing. They get big, and I've never seen one that wasn't aggressive (in a playful way - not a bloodthirsty way). But when they're that big, playtime can get rough.

They also have to be the most fearless breed of dog on the planet. They were bred to hunt lions in Africa. I'd love to have one myself, but with a kid I can't. When she's older, I've definitely consider getting a Ridgeback when I have the time to be consistent and disciplined with it (and also have a huge yard - those things can run for days).

We had one (at least it was partially a ridgeback, got it from the Humane Society). He got to be a hair under 100 lbs. Way too much dog for our small house. He was trained for the most part but he never got over the jumping on people when they came in. If you told him to get down he would but he had to try to play with everyone at least once when they walked in.

He loved to run... my wife would take him out. About 2 miles was his limit, after that he got lazy. My wife had to call me to pick them up once because he laid down on the sidewalk and gave zero fucks about moving.

Once we had the first baby we got rid of him. He was OK but too big. Couldn't handle a crawling baby and that big lug. If he's still around, hes got to be on his last legs by now.

So, this complaint kind of bleeds into our dog discussion. My wife picks up my daughter from day care today and says they have a "surprise" for me. I go outside when they get home and realize we are babysitting the class hamster for the fucking weekend. This thing comes with its own instructions and shit. It's just a little rat with a big playhouse.

So my wife puts our daughter to bed about an hour ago and then goes to one of our neighbor's houses for some "girl time." That's fine, in and of itself.

The problem is that we have a 70 pound hunting dog with the nose of a motherfuckin bloodhound. If I weren't sitting here right now, he would have torn into this hamster "biodome" and killed this little fucker quicker than you can blink. All he does is sit there and sniff and growl at the hamster.

I moved the hamster on top of the fridge, which just means ny dog moved locations.

Anyone else have these hamster-sharing programs? Also, anyone else kinda hope the hamster escapes just to see your dog shake it to death?

My jack russell took down our hamster. I saw that rat breath its last breath. Luckily my Jack Russell bit the dust soon after because those dogs are assholes. I love my weims.

The hamster is running in its wheel right now, and I swear my dog's about to have an aneurysm if I don't turn him loose.
