Great feel for the pocket but too many missed throws Bob.

As long as they draft one of

Myles Garrett(pipe dream he falls)
Trubiski/Kizer
Hooker/Adams

I'm happy. Please stay away from Jonathan Allen. Decent player. Not a play maker though.

Jonathan Allen will be a massive disappointment if a team drafts him top 10.

He will carve out a nice career as a 5 tech in the NFL but that's about it. He is not as talented as a player like Wilkerson.

According to a mock draft on my NFL app, they have the Bears slated to draft Allen at #3. :?

Good, because that would be the optimal pick.

Akiem Hicks was one of the best 5 techniques in the league last year and we grabbed him as a street FA. These guys become available.

If not QB, then how about Hooker and Adams to fix the safety position that has been broke since Mike Brown?

Unless it's Richard Seymour, it's foolish to use a top 5 pick on a 5 tech in a 3-4 defense.

I hope so. It'd really suck to whiff on the 3rd overall. Do any OT's look to be worth grabbing that early? So far it doesn't look like it.

Allen also has a bad shoulder, maybe we can red shirt him for 2 years like Kevin White?

Allen is pretty short. They all can't be Aaron Donald.

I haven't read thru most of this thread, so if this has been addressed, I apologi. That mock has Fournette going 17th?!?

And no, I'm not suggesting him to the Bear.

they need to take a QB no matter what. doesn't matter if 99% chance he sucks, that 1% is worth more than 100% pro-bowl guy at any other position.

68 completion % with 30 TD's to only 6 INT's. Your definition of "not that good' is incredibly bizarre.

If the Bears take that scrub @ 3, it will be the worst QB pick at 3 since Akili Smith.

Joey Harrington, Vince Young, & Blake Bortles were also taken with #3 overall pick. If that gets your motor going?

Yes, and all had better numbers and more games in college than (Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky .

So you're thinking wait till round 2 or 3 for a QB? I'm fine with that. The top 3 QB prospects don't look like "can't miss" type players.

I'd take Watson in the second, I'm cool with waiting til next year when the QB class is much better and grabbing a legit defensive star with the 3rd overall pick.

Bob, did you watch him in their bowl game? Whole lot of mediocre.

Bowl games are set up to help defenses. Not saying he is good, but giving Stanford 6 weeks to scheme to stop him didn't help his cause.

I remember when a lot of people didn't like him as the Bears next pick. That's the guy I wanted in that draft tho, sucks he got taken right ahead of the Bears that year.

Why? He isn't going to be good in the NFL. Would be a wasted pick anywhere you take him.

I guess (Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky and the Tarheels offense only had a day or two to prepare for the game?

Yes, and I'm evaluating him more than just one game. Physically he can make every throw on the field. And his numbers are very good too.

Just to be clear, I'm not advocating for drafting Trubiski. I just think he has the physical skill set to be a solid NFL quarterback. I feel the same way about Kizer. What makes these guys tick inside, their work ethic, leadership etc, I'm not privy to. That's the job of Pace and his scouting staff...I'm just saying if you are going to pass on both you better be damn sure there is a fatal flaw why they won't be successful at the next level. Essentially there is a huge opportunity cost to passing on these guys and them going on to be great in the NFL. Everyone talks about "what if they are busts" but nobody talks about his missed opportunity cost if you are wrong.

TLDR version, I would be open to the Bears drafting either of them if they(Pace and Staff) thought they were worthy of the pick.
