LeBron has been to the Finals for the past 6 years. That was 4 years with Miami and 2 years with Cleveland. It doesn't really matter what the Bulls do or who their coach is. They are still not beating LeBron and the star players he's assembled around him. When LeBron, Wade and Bosh teamed up that was the end of competitive balance in the NBA. I would say it's probably about 90 percent likely that we are in for another Cavs vs. Warriors finals. The analogy I would draw to get down on the Bulls is it's the same as being down on the Sox when the Cubs just won and are likely to win again. Nothing the Bulls/Sox can do in the next couple years has them even sniffing a championship series let alone getting to the playoffs or even the second round of the playoffs.

What's the point? Eventually, that will probably happen, but no coach is going to win with an un-athletic team with limited three point shooting. This team is another superstar, and 2 or 3 above the rim players from being anything other than an average/mediocre club.

Drawing parallels between odds in basketball and baseball is completely idiotic. Any baseball team can challenge if they just hit on a couple key spots. The same is not remotely true in basketball.

I know this type of guy. He can't speak to men as a man, much less as a professional. He avoids conflict and hides from confrontation. In doing so, he invites dysfunction and creates mass confusion. This isn't the stuff of leaders. This guy needs to go.

Quote:
Contrary to what Hoiberg has claimed, Rondo said he’s had no productive or detailed discussion with his coach about his benching.

“Um, how can I say this?” Rondo told reporters. “No.”

The explanation Rondo did receive came from a staffer on the Bulls bench, who told him they were “saving me from myself,” Rondo said. He had been benched for poor play, with Hoiberg saying it was his decision alone, but Rondo wasn’t buying the little he was told.

“I thought it was (BS),” Rondo told reporters. “Save me from myself. I never heard that before in my life.”

While this lack of communication from the Bulls can to a large degree be absolved in the context of dealing with an underperforming player who’s also stubborn in Rondo, this continues a trend for the Bulls that should be concerning. Perhaps more than anything in his one-and-a-half seasons, Hoiberg’s missteps have been in dealing with his players.

he Rondo mess marks the second straight year Hoiberg has encountered tumult with a proud veteran. Just a week into the 2015-’16 regular season, Hoiberg claimed that big man Joakim Noah had volunteered to come off the bench as Pau Gasol and Nikola Mirotic started. He hadn’t, and Noah made that clear to all. It set the stage for what became the most frustrating season of Noah’s career, and he never connected with Hoiberg.

In the present, the “save me from myself” comment that Rondo relayed has drawn raised eyebrows. After Tuesday’s game, Hoiberg indicated he wasn’t aware of that comment being made and sidestepped a question as to whether he would have a problem with an assistant speaking in such a manner to a player. ( )

And Rondo isn’t the only veteran searching for answers. After Rondo was benched on Dec. 31, forward Taj Gibson — as respected as they come in an NBA locker room — sought an answer as to why.

“I don’t even know what happened to tell you the truth,” Gibson said Jan. 2. “I still don’t know what happened. I’m still waiting to see what’s happened.

“I asked. I haven’t gotten any word yet, so I’m still waiting”

Hoiberg has been questioned time after time about the Rondo situation, and at every turn he declines to divulge details. In what’s becoming a Hoiberg staple, whenever he’s pushed, asked to shine light on a situation and perhaps send a message to the masses, he evades the topic. Usually, he just gives a play-by-play recap of what already occurred instead of addressing the issue in the here and now.

The criticism doesn't stop. It's become apparent to everyone that Hoiberg doesn't have what it takes to be successful.

Quote:
The Bulls keep burning their own hands, though. Aside from the lackluster effort and errors early in the game, the flaws that have been present all season remain. The late-game offense, centered around isolation sets for Wade and Jimmy Butler, remain too predictable. The Bulls' defensive miscues allowed for Mavericks swingman Wesley Matthews to drill a wide-open, game-winning 3 with 11.7 seconds left.

When the isolation plays work it is due to the greatness of Butler. When they don't they are too predictable. Butler wants to run isolation plays. In late game situations he prefers to play hero ball. Hoiberg can't sit him because he is their best player.

Butler isn't good enough offensively to be an isolation king.

The Bulls are a mediocre team playing mediocre ball. If their record plummets then Hoiberg is a terrible coach. If they continue to play .500 ball then it is difficult to make the argument that he is a bad coach. This is where most people had them anyway.

Not tonight. Great steal by Wade on Cousins to cap off an outstanding 4th quarter for him.

From tonight's postgame, Fred has ceded any #Bulls direction to @JimmyButler and @DwyaneWade. This is not a coached team, now.

Wow.

This maybe worse than the Trestman time with the Bears.

Surely he has to be gone soon.

No it wasn't. A lot of coaches would have called a timeout there. You don't show up your coach like that.

Hoi berg cost them that game. You can't play Mirotic and Zipser down the stretch and I'd probably not play Mirotic at all. Seen enough of his dumbass.

Great Taj also took a stupid ass 3 too. I'll be happy when his Era comes to an end too.

Butler and Wade played great. Should have had the ball down stretch. It was their game to win.

How long until we get the now regular Paxson press conference where he talks about the fire and the passion and player accountability while he's the least accountable executive in the NBA?

  it was a horrible time to use a last timeout. There was like a minute left. Hoiberg either panicked or forgot he had only one timeout left. In denying the story it also appears he subscribes to alternative facts. His next press conference will be about praising the team's 30-12 record and how he pleased he is with the Bulls having the same hunger as they did last year when they won the finals.

This is an absurd thought. You don't burn your last timeout in a tight game with a minute still left to go. It's Hoiberg's fault that they were even in this spot to begin with. Very poor management of timeouts throughout the game.

As the old saying goes you don't eat your timeouts. Down 2 points with 58 seconds to go you most definitely can burn that timeout. If the Bulls don't get a good play the game is probably over anyway.

No other coach in the NBA uses their final timeout in that situation with that much time left.
