He may have ended up the best baseball player ever.

I don't know shit about this argument but it's happening between coworkers right now. Who's had the better career, Serena Williams or Tiger Woods. The pro-Serena guy in my office seems to have the stronger argument.

that's not an argument, that's a Skip Bayless-level baiting. Venus Williams has had a better career than Tiger Woods.

Really? That last sentence seems ridiculous. I truly don't know. I will say the pro-Tiger guy in the office is much more biased, he's a huge golf fan and Tiger fanboy.

I am a huge golf fan myself, but this is Serena all the way. It really isn't that close.

Since Tiger always says majors are what matters, Serena's got him 23-14.

i'm slightly exaggerating for effect; both dominated women's tennis for a time; but Venus, at an "advanced" age in tennis, can still make grand slam finals. Tiger can't get even make the cut anymore...in regular PGA tournaments.

if you want to make the argument "who dominated their sport more when they were at their peak", then that can be an argument. and tiger would probably win that argument, but it would be close. serena has embarrassed the euro girls many times over in the women's circuit.

I heard that which is why it seemed like the Serena guy was winning the argument. Tiger Guy's argument seemed to hinge on he was more dominant and it's harder to win majors in men's golf than women's tennis. That last reason made me laugh.

Assuming it ignores the fact that Serena didn't play in the best league in the world in the sport I think the answer is Serena.

She is the best womens tennis player ever. Tiger was on pace but won't be because Elin broke him.

Looks like the argument might be over. I showed Tiger Guy the last few posts and he made a disgusted look and said "that's dumb. It's way closer than that." I'm taking that as him conceding.

No, Brady could win 10SBs and not surpass Jordan for the simple fact that Brady only has control over half the game. If Brady wants to compete with Jordan he would also have to line up on the defensive side of the ball.

Do you think it's as difficult for a top tennis player to win a major as it is for a top golfer to do so?

Since the top men's golfer and the top men's tennis player both have 18 grand slam wins/majors (and 2nd place both have 14), for men yes. The women's golf major winners vs tennis slam winners is all out of whack, so for women no.

Yes and yes.

Tiger had a stretch where he was way more dominant than Serena and clearly golf > tennis, but her career is better. Like Hawg said its not a landslide, but its not.close either.

Couldn't say for sure, though I do know it takes balls to be one.

Absolutely not.

It would be like saying professional dart players are athletes.

Would golf be what it is today without Tiger though?

Golf occurred, but 98% of the viewing public didn't give a rat's red ass about it ... which is not to say that anyone gets excited over tennis (though I've always, for some reason, watched quite a fair amount of Wimbledon) ... I don't know if I am mistaken in thinking that Tiger is the reason golf is as huge as it is (is it? I think it is.).

Dusty Baker's usage of Prior and Wood, while excessive, had very little to nothing to do with the injury problems for either

Wood never took Stone's suggestion to learn how to pitch and Prior was doomed by the Hawpe line drive.

The top mens high school team in the state of Illinois would beat the UCONN womens team.

Without much scientific thought or basis I would say no, its not as difficult to win a tennis major as it is a golf major. Only because I think its easier to beat a series of single opponents in a row than it is to be better than 100 opponents over a 4 day period.

I'd be willing to bet on a great team of 8th graders over this UConn team. And I know that when the kids beat them, it'd be more entertaining to watch than any of the Huskies last 100 games.

Lebron James Jr. could start for UCONN.
